Former advisor of PAP:Singapore no Switzerland standard

... Considering what kind of region we are in, we're already an oasis that provides can *acceptable* standard of living ...

i would agree, but we need to look forward, if now is not the time for mutual collaborations to build up the entire S.E. Asian region, we'd be sitting ducks 20~30 years down the road... or do you subscribe to the notion that we'll be under water after the meltdown of the North and South Poles? :D

... When Deng Xiao Ping finally broke the dam in 1978, it took them 2 decades before it overtook Spore & HK quite effortlessly ...

now that you mention China, what about India? Russia? both are a financial force to be reckoned with in the near future... if China has a population of 1.3B, India could soon be catching up... and the Russians are the 2nd largest exporter of oil... it's really a toss up... :D

When old people retires in Switzerland, they have enough savings to live well & travel widely. Look at Singapore, very old people still have to work in fast food restaurants taking orders & coffee shops cleaning tables.

'Uniquely Singapore'.

Dr Kenichi Ohmae is a former adviser to the Singapore Govt said that while Singapore has a good education system and has in recent years embarked on a drive to recruit foreign talent to work here, its challenge on the talent front is that Singapore is not a very attractive place to live.

He said that though low personal taxes are attractive but Sinapore needs to do more to improve the quality of life to become region's switzerland (low taxes combined with a good standard of living).....
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above statements show that Singaporean has been lied by PAP about our switzerland standard of living for many years since GCT time and we were falsely told that foreigners are willing to sink in as Singapore citizens. The twin prostitute in Toa Payoh lied even big time that Singapore is a role model for the world to follow woh and jealous countries wanted to do us in. We are all done in by PAP & dogs company for hiding the truth behind fake statistics. The fact is foreigners are here to suppress our income and than return to their own countries (cheaper back home) to retire while Singaporean left to struggle at old age with increasing cost of livings. We are fucked by PAP, no foreigners love Singapore or want to stay here!!!

The only Swiss about Spore is the marche restaurant. As for all the swiss crap, its only applicable to the elites. Normal Sporeans can continue to dream that impossible dream.

its no secret PAP govt has been lying for many yrs telling s,poreans foreign talents will
bring more jobs n improve our lives talking cock.they have no intention to release our hard earned CPF $ bcos there is nothing left govt want us to work till the day we die
KNN time to exercise our rights as citizens my dear countrymen

You prefer to be paying for their good life and travel?

when we talk about welfare, we talk about a safety net for the poor and the needy, for the able-bodied, at least a help-line to help them tide over until their next job is found.

do we need to be reminded of the late Mr. Tan who gave his last dollars to his children so they can buy their meals while he threw himself at the train at Chinese Garden MRT?

productivity will not be compromised even as the Government reach out to these group of people. welfare to sustain a needy family's livelihood is what i'm interested in.

providing them with opportunities of leisure is of course not applicable in this sense.
paying for their good life? no.
paying to keep them alive? yes.
