Dear PAP,

Lockdowns are a waste of time because all the data now emerging shows that the virus has already spread far and wide.

States in the USA are already starting to unlock their lockdowns. People need to earn a living and lockdowns can cause far more deaths and destruction than the virus.

Covid-19 is no worse than a bad flu year. In fact in many ways it is a lot better because vulnerable children are at very low risk whereas flu kills children in significant numbers.

As is the case with all issues things need to be viewed in perspective and in relation to numerous risks we face on a daily basis while life goes on.

Gov. Greg Abbott is drafting an executive order for guidelines for re-opening Texas businesses. Abbott said that order, which will come next week, will look at ways to safely provide economic revitalization to Texas.

“We will focus on protective lives while restoring livelihoods. We can do both,” Abbott said Friday, April 10, during an afternoon news conference.
As of for the coronavirus pandemic in Texas, Abbott shared the latest numbers from across the state. As of Friday afternoon:
  • 116,000 total Texans tested
  • 11,449 Texans tested positive
  • 1,532 Texans hospitalized
  • 221 Texans have died
“Every life lost is one too many,” Abbott said.

Look at the numbers from Texas:

116,000 tests and 11,449 tested positive. That's 9.8%

11,449 tested positive and 1,532 hospitalised. That's 13.3% and consistent with all the data that shows more than 80% have mild symptoms only.

If the 116,000 that were tested were from a reasonably random sample it would mean that the infection rate is 10%. That's 2.5 MILLION!

The only issue that needs to dealt with is the one of randomness.

The coming days will tell.

But I can assure everyone that the mortality is nowhere near the official 2.3%. That is 100% FAKE NEWS.

Even if the number of Texans infected is just 1% of the population that's 250,000 infected so the mortality rate would then work out to be 212/25000x100% or 0.08%.

Numbers don't lie. But test kits do. Faulty test kits from enterprising cina.

The same test kits are being used for the current body count and case count which everyone is using to shut down their economies.

Why doubt the good news count while accepting all the bad news numbers. The wider the virus has spread the better it is for all of us.

agreed with sam. even if you manage a zero case by May, are you going to close the border forever?if no once you open the gate to indon and indian...the infection start again. then what? lockdown again?

This is why I think the narrative will change.

The message will no longer be about how many cases everyday. No longer about how many deaths.

It will be all kinds of articles saying how mild the virus is for most people.

There will likely also be more focus on the economic recovery efforts. How each industry is coping. New stories.

Not so easy. Recent studies from Italy and China death are the result of virus not just attacking lung but the heart too. Normal influenza won't go to that extreme. Prevention is better than cure, better lockdown and avoid getting voted out of parliament.

Normal flu can also attack the heart. Some people who resumed military training or went for vigorous exercise/gym after their flu kenna'ed before.

In any case, lockdown or CCB or whatever you call it is bad for PAP. People are not happy, especially the old folks. All those old fuckers old habits die hard and are generally very ungrateful and idiotic, with no sense of self esteem or self preservation. That's the Singapore old folk for you. Devoid of common sense or consideration for other people.

In some years, we have seen higher mortality rates for the common cold or flu. I think this is due to years of overmedication, resulting in superflu bugs floating around.

One very common instance of overmedication is abuse of antibiotics, which have resulted in antibiotic resistant strains of superbugs! Hospital MRSA for instance.

To compare the WuFlu Covid-19 death rates to the higher mortality common flu/influenza death rates is therefore misleading at best. The latter numbers have been tainted.

Normal influenza attacks the heart too. Estimates of the H1N1 deaths in 2009/10 estimated that 48,000 of the 242,000 that died were from heart attacks as a result of virus infection.

Sorry I quoted the wrong figure regarding cardiac events resulting from H1N1.

The number of deaths from cardiac events was 83,300!!

https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2012/06/cdc-estimate-global-h1n1-pandemic-deaths-284000

The CDC-led team, which included researchers from several other countries, based its estimates on H1N1 case data from 12 countries and case-fatality ratios (CFRs) reported from five countries. Their report was published online yesterday in the Lancet Infectious Diseases.

The researchers estimate that the pandemic virus caused 201,200 respiratory deaths and another 83,300 deaths from cardiovascular disease associated with H1N1 infections. They also calculate that Africa and Southeast Asia, which have 38% of the world's population, accounted for a disproportionate 51% of the deaths.

They are royal bastards.

I am glad I am not old yet.

As much as I have benefitted from PAP's policies, I am still voting opposition. That is called making a principled stand.

You're cutting off your nose to spite your face. The PAP may be full of idiots but at least they are brainy idiots.

On the other hand most of the opposition are absolute retards along with their supporters.

USA has better border controls and over here in Sinkieland we have Lawrence Wong on the record hinting that Tiong tourists might be allowed into the country soon.

Mr Wong said that any changes to Singapore's travel restrictions will be based strictly on data and evidence, with the priority being to keep the country's borders safe.

Lemme guess... keep faith in Tedros and the data from the WHO?
