A flight steward is suing Singapore Airlines (SIA) after his back was injured when a heavy bag toppled on him from an overhead luggage compartment.
Mr K. Jotheeswaran Kaniyasan, 38, blames the airline for failing to install safety measures such as netting to stop baggage from falling out.
His case has been filed at the High Court, where damages in civil lawsuits start at $250,000.
The steward - who is on medical leave and has not flown since the accident - is also demanding the $4,000 monthly flight allowance he used to earn.
