ANy VW is a piece of crap. I owned one before, hence I think I am qualified to critique it.
the Chevy Aveo 5 ain't flashy at all.
the guy paid for the car in full, by himself. that's good.
only question n concern is how he managed to do it.
The gear ratio are tighter and gives a "smoother" ride. DSG ensures that gear changing is the optimal and you don't have to worry about it. I'm doing 6th on about 80km/h at just below 2K rpm. If you can change as fast as an automatic transmission, you won't have a problem changing to top gear on smooth flowing traffic. Problem is, when it comes to 8 gear transmission, most people just give up on a manual. DSG, steptronics, is the way forward for cars nowadays. Imagine when they come up with a 12 speed transmission.
my colleague has a golf GTI. the DSG gearbox brokedown when the car just passed 3 years. he said cost him over $10k for the repairs. he said its common problem on the VW cars.
VW cars have many problems, the gearbox is just one of them. When the car works, the VW is a joy to drive, on par I would say with Audi and BMW. But they are unreliable as hell. I have to say my Passat was the best car I had ever owned................when it worked. In the end, I was very frustrated at VW producing such a crap car, and ruining their reputation on what is supposed to be a high end car for the.
My GM actually drives a Skoda rather then a VW. Apparently they are from the same group with the same tech etc. They cost less then a VW as well are more reliable.
