SINGAPORE: Police have arrested five teenagers for suspected involvement in two separate cases of housebreaking and theft.
In the first case, a shopowner in Jurong West found her shop broken into and about S$200 stolen from the cash register at about 11am on March 8.
Police said the incident was captured on CCTV.
Officers managed to establish the identity of one suspect and arrested him two days later, along with a 14-year-old female, around Jurong West Central 1.
The male suspect, 18, will be charged in court on March 12 with housebreaking and theft.
Investigations against the other suspect are ongoing.
The second case revolved around four reports of break-ins in the vicinity of Teck Whye, Bukit Batok and Bukit Panjang between February 13 and March 4.
In two of the break-ins, cash was reported stolen from the food stalls in two secondary schools.
Police also received reports that cigarettes were stolen from two provision shops in Teck Whye.
They caught the three suspects during a police operation at about 4am on March 11 around Teck Whye Lane.
