A MAN who head-butted a cabby on the nose was given the maximum fine of $500 on Friday. Tang Chun Boon, 27, a sales executive, admitted to an amended charge of using criminal force on Mr Donald Chew Chwee Leng, 50, at the junction of Havelock Road and Eu Tong Sen Street at about 10.50pm on July 7, 2007. The court heard that Mr Chew was trying to filter into Havelock Road near the Central Expressway tunnel's exit when he cut into Tang's car. Tang honked and flashed his high beam at the cabby and stopped him at the traffic light junction of Havelock Road and Eu Tong Sen Street. Both drivers got down. Tang scolded Mr Chew for being a 'lousy driver'' and used his body to push the victim backwards towards the taxi. Suddenly he used his head to hit the victim on the nose bridge. The victim called the police. Defence counsel Daniel Xu told District Judge Joseph Yeo that his client will pay $1,000 as compensation to the cabby.
