I honestly don't think that every school is a good school - and I'm sure many will agree. But I'd like to raise the idea that it may not actually be a failing of our students, but rather with the education system itself?

I've noticed that there is a significant difference between teachers in "elite" schools and teachers in "normal" schools. Recently, I've been helping out a younger friend of mine with her homework in Secondary 3 (she's in a "normal" school). What I realised was that some of her teachers were not only being unclear in their teaching, worse still they were actually outright imparting concepts wrongly. And this was some really, really basic Physics stuff for 'O' Levels mind you. I don't expect every teacher to be perfect and absolutely correct all the time - my classes in secondary school have definitely pointed out mistakes made by our teachers on a few occasions. However when you can't even get the basic concepts correct as a teacher, there's something severely wrong here.

from World Economic Forum: teachers could be potentially be replaced by robots and/or AI in a decade, taking a scan across the landscape -Coursera and the likes have pretty much taken online learning onto a stable platform at the tertiary level.

That being said, I felt that the "human touch" is still relevant in our future economy, maybe it's just me.

by human touch, do you mean caressing perineum until female complains about achieving orgasm?

Not every kid is a good kid.. not every human is a good person... that's life, what's new?

The 70% sees the picture of the late LKY, they goes into ecstasy, they see mee siam mai hum picture they achieve orgasm & see any of the PAP ministers, they gets wet between their legs & cum...no need human touch, never mind being in schools.

The same goes with getting your medical attention & treatment at the hospital & clinic, medical personnel, equipments, medicines, etc mostly the same, same as the schools; but what you pay for, makes the difference. You want Class A, B1, B2 or C or private, the quality of the doctors, nurses & other medical personnels are of different quality.

The schools same...facilities, teachers etc.. what you pay for, Class A, B1, B2, C or private...but the PAP government will tell you on local jargon, "same same"...you believe?

The song that is played over & over & over again, while washing the undies was " cum together" by the Butoh, "cum together, right now over me"...incidentally, the song was copied by The British group:

Let's not blame the school's for something that embaedded in our society's mindset. This Elite schools and all that, whatever they are, or are not - its all created by people, let the schools educate within their domain of specialty, academia, and allow othere aspects in society to take care of their areas. How many papas and/or mamas here have the ability to impart knowledge of the science of physics to our kids?

Cheers!

Any average student can pass exams on their own through self study, but teachers help us excel beyond an exam pass.

Logically, weak students need good teachers more than good students.... If the desired outcomes were egalitarian.

But as a country, we deploy our good teachers to teach the good students. That means our desired outcomes are not egalitarian.

MOE needs a philosophical paradigm shift towards egalitarian outcomes if they truly want to make every school a good school.

he say this is true to a certain extend. he then say the best educators can create a best self interactive recorded video of lessons although lacking the personal touch and shared equally among all students and change the education systems to online based.

That'll be more useful at the staff level initially. But it's a great idea that can raise the standards of the lower performing teachers by giving them access to the methods of the higher performing teachers.

Rather than making every school a good school, make every teacher a great teacher.

I like your uncle.

The true educator reads into the mind of his protege, guides his protege to learn, unlearn and relearn through engagement of all senses, of utmost importance is the mind set.
