THE Government hears and understands Singaporeans' concerns about the influx of immigrants in recent years, Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng said yesterday.

So it has refined the requirements for permanent residents (PRs) and new citizens, even as it continues to take them in to top up Singapore's declining population, he told Parliament.

As one indication, there were 59,500 new PRs last year, down from 79,200 in 2008, and 19,900 new citizens, compared to 20,500 a year ago.

who is he trying to kid? 2009 is the year of economic crisis of course PR population went down. And how many are applications are pending approval?

And I remembered last year we realised population figures that whole of Singapore population went up to 5m. And here he say PR and citizen dropped. Plus birth rate decline - where we get the 5m from? So, what is what? The numbers dun match.

So he admits we have brought in even more aliens who are not PRs not Sporns but simply parasites that crowd our buses, breath our air?

Why give only 2008 and 2009 statistics, let's look at 2005-2007 ones too! I won't be surprised if since 2005 we have had close to 1 million new PRs and citizens!

only for now, after election same like GST and ERP, they will relax again on the migrants. First you already kenna warned by the Grand Father not to vote for opposition becos you unhappy as he is still alive and kicking.
