<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->A Frenchman is set to take over as the head coach of the Singapore men's national table tennis squad.
Alain Chen, 47, a vice-captain of the Chinese national men's team in the 1980s, will start work tomorrow, filling the post left vacant by Liu Guodong.
According to the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA), Chen was a coach in the French Super League for 14 years and had participated actively in the European League.
His recent years have been spent coaching in China.
Said STTA president Lee Bee Wah: 'STTA is always on the look-out worldwide for good talents in coaching to provide added variety in playing styles and exposure to our players. 'The addition of Alain Chen in the national men's team - and our recent recruitment of Tokai Masataka for the national youth team - have certainly enhanced STTA's quest for even higher professionalism by integrating global talents into our technical team.'

Thought there was a big hoohah over the French in China recently?

This will be a test on where the players' loyalty lies.
