It is good to do charity, no mater you're sincere in helping or just putting up an act for others to see, there are still people who will benefit from the donation. Of course, the the latter may not get you any reward in your after-life.

Don't expect Singaporeans to donate, they are not daft and have learned their lesson thru Renci, NKF and what not. Donations of $8mil is probably a show and donated by GLC linked or big establishments. Just enjoy the show, let the government wayang and than keep your wallet tight.
