April 24 (Bloomberg) -- Australia will tighten rules on foreign investment in real estate, and introduce penalties to enforce the changes, to ensure pressure isn’t placed on housing availability for local residents.
Temporary residents will require approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board to buy property, and will have to sell when leaving the country,

Make sense in their immigration as well as property rules - the Australians always make sure that their locals are not disadvantaged. Home is important to Aussies unlike Singapore whereby the government looks upon home as just another asset to be speculated upon.
THE ENBLOC POLICY IS ONE GOOD EXAMPLE OF HOW THE GOVERNMENT DISADVANTAGE LOCALS.
Our church friend who is nearly 70 living in a 30 year old condo in Clementi has this to say:
"They (foreigners) have been trying to enblock my property at least twice before but unsuccessfully because many locals held on to their property .
BUT in recent years with the influx of foreigners at least 35 units in my condo of over 150 units are owned by ang moh foreigners. And they are keen to sell., to make a quick profit , as Singapore is not their home .Nearly about 40% of the units here are owned now owned by"""" foreigners or PRs!"""" Locals are being edged out of their property !
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Imagine the Enbloc sale committee itself, is made up of FIFTY PERCENT(50%) ANG MOH FOREIGNERS who are determine to sell our property.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I fear I will lose my only home of 30 years. Home is no longer Home to Singaporeans!
The government have let IN these """foreigner vultures"""" here not only to take away jobs from locals BUT NOW to also TAKE AWAY OUR HOMES! This is the only government in the world that allows foreigners to come into your country and take away your HOMES!
How can we still vote them and be happy about it?"
