A cabby yesterday told The Straits Times that he had picked up Dr Silviu Ionescu, the highest ranking Romanian embassy official in Singapore, at 3am-3.30am on Dec 15 in the Sungei Kadut area, after Dr Ionescu had flagged him down. The industrial area is about 5km from Bukit Panjang, where the embassy's Audi A6 car hit three pedestrians at about 3.10am.

1.30am: Dr Silviu Ionescu parks his car in front of his embassy, off Farrer Road, he says, after returning to work from a karaoke session with some businessmen in Peace Centre. About 3am: He leaves the embassy, he claims, only to find his car missing from where he parked it. About 3.10am: The Audi hits three men in Bukit Panjang before speeding off. One man has since died. 3.33am: A taxi picks up Dr Ionescu in the Sungei Kadut area, not far from where his car is later found abandoned.

<!-- message --> The truth of this case will never be determined and the diplomat that alleged to have driven the car that caused the accident which claimed an innocent ordinary person life will never be convicted.It seems that ordinary people life is so cheap.
The reason is pure and simple.Diplomatic immunity and the size of the country he represent as an ambbasitor and the sensitivity and gravity of the country bi-lateral relations if he will to be convicted.
When dealing with case of this sort that involves "big people with power" the authorities would very much like to "downplay" the issue as can be seen in the press there's no big deal "hooha" about this case,considering the fact a precious life was lost due someone's callousness and negligence and stupidity.What if someone from the upper echelon of our society or their love ones or relative was involved,will the same "low profile" and "quietness" of the case happen.
Why is the press and media so low profiled the case?Is there any "interference" or "gag order" issued?
One of my wish for the 2010.Get that S.O.B that caused the loss of life in that accident and make him pay the family of the loss.Be Brave!SINGAPORE!

What happened on Dec 15

About 3.10am: The Audi hits three men in Bukit Panjang before speeding off. One man has since died.

3.33am: A taxi picks up Dr Ionescu in the Sungei Kadut area, not far from where his car is later found abandoned.

About 4am, Dr Silviu Ionescu called the police and reported his car missing. He cliams he parks his car in front of his embassy , off Farrer Road at about 1.30am, he says, after returning to work from a karaoke session with some businessmen in Peace Centre.

He cliams he disconver his car missing at about 3am when he leaves the embassy, he claims, from where he parked it.

Let us ask the Romanian Foreign Minister, Prime Minister, President to justify these actions. Or ask the UN Secretary, Mr. Ban to clarify. Do we have to budge when these Diplomats start to take advantage and bully us ? These Diplomats are living in our country and using our resources. I thought someone said that Singapore should not be a satellite to other countries, including the superpowers !!!! If these Diplomats misbehave in our country, the MFA should exercise its rights to summon the ambassador or its Foreign Minister for an explanation and expel them if things break down. Does Singapore allow these Diplomats to dictate their conditions here right under our nose ? Is our MFA sleeping or feigning ignorance after getting their fat salaries ???

Remember the history of China during the Qing Dynasty. When the Alliance of the 8 Foreign Countries invaded China (which is such a HUGE AND MAJESTIC COUNTRY), these countries started to draft and dicatate their own Laws in China and even started drawing their boundaries and "colonies" in Shanghai and other cities and lived like KINGS, lord over and abused the indigenious Chinese People. This is the "SHAME" that China had to endure and bear. Is China going to let this happen again ? Ask the Chinese ???? OR is Singapore going to allow this History to repeat itself right HERE and let Singaporeans suffer the same humiliation ??????? Ask the SPGs ???? Many countries were colonised by the West in the past. Shall we let Romania colonise SPG ??? Or should the trend be reversed and the East starts to colonise the West and tells them what to do ?

The primary purpose of diplomatic immunity is to prevent the host country or a 3rd party fixing up a diplomat so that he faces criminal charge which may lay lead to vicious cycle of tit for tat.

Do we have to budge when these Diplomats start to take advantage and bully us ? These Diplomats are living in our country and using our resources. I thought someone said that Singapore should not be a satellite to other countries, including the superpowers !!!! If these Diplomats misbehave in our country, the MFA should exercise its rights to summon the ambassador or its Foreign Minister for an explanation and expel them if things break down. Does Singapore allow these Diplomats to dictate their conditions here right under our nose ? Is our MFA sleeping or feigning ignorance after getting their fat salaries ???

Remember the history of China during the Qing Dynasty. When the Alliance of the 8 Foreign Countries invaded China (which is such a HUGE AND MAJESTIC COUNTRY), these countries started to draft and dicatate their own Laws in China and even started drawing their boundaries and "colonies" in Shanghai and other cities and lived like KINGS, lord over and abused the indigenious Chinese People. This is the "SHAME" that China had to endure and bear. Is China going to let this happen again ? Ask the Chinese ???? OR is Singapore going to allow this History to repeat itself right HERE and let Singaporeans suffer the same humiliation ??????? Ask the SPGs ???? Many countries were colonised by the West in the past. Shall we let Romania colonise SPG ??? Or should the trend be reversed and the East starts to colonise the West and tells them what to do ?
