Election IN for shock results -

You have a disconnect... what is the difference between LKY 's contributions and PAP's contributions to the country ?

One is a despot while the others were minions, that is the difference :D:D:D

If they had been sincere, they should have voluntarily offer to reduce their MPs' salaries upon elected in 2011 to show their sincerity regarding overpaid MPs, which all opposition parties have always been criticizing against the PAP since eons ago. Yet, they just kept quiet and accepted their "exhorbitant" salaries as per se. What a bunch of hypocrites?

You aimed your gun in the wrong direction. The pappies set the high salaries for all the MPs. If you wanted salaries for WP MP to go down, tell LHL to reduce the high salaries for all MPs. Otherwise, the WP MPs have the same right to enjoy the same kind of salaries that pappies paid to their own MPs. The WP MP are not hypocrites...the hypocrites are the pappies.

The constitution doesn't state that MP's salaries must be the same throughout. WP MPs could have taken the lead to voluntarily take a pay-cut and shame the PAP, but did they?

They might have been the rookies when taking over the accounts of the Aljunied GRC TC but the pappies found nothing criminal to bring charges against WP. Administrative slips up here and there might have occurred but as WP explained, they could not find contractors willing to work for an oppo party.
Not being able to find contractors is just a lame excuse. Why then are they taking over and doing it by themselves now? How to explain this? Besides, which contractor has been doing it for Hougang for donkey years already?

You still need to decide if lhl is a moron?
Because of his father he can have ojt to do the job.....and yet after years...YEARS he still cmi. Dumbfucks sinkies have been more than patient and even generous. Time to boot the deadwood out. Actually last GE he already should have been booted

When compared to other regional leaders, like that one up North, LHL can still stand on his records although his pro foreigners policies are plainly dumb and suicidal to the country. He will cry again and apologise in coming rallies but it will be useless.

No one dared to boot out LHL from pappies when LKY was still alive. He will remain as Sec Gen until he joined his father or until he got booted out from AMK GRC.

From the overpaying to FMSS saga, it's clear that the WP is slowly but surely showing their true colours. Come on, who won't be tempted by the lure of money? They had paid so much more to FMSS and yet can't even do a proper cleaning job at the Bedok Hawker Centre until being forced to do so by LTK. Do you want this type of opposition parties in government? I won't.

To take a pay cut to shame the pappies? Very silly to do it. The pappies would just laugh at silliness of the WP MP to take pay cut to shame pappies, whose skins are as thick as the rhinos. As LKY had said, what is wrong with making more money?

Dun be silly. Pappies are shameless. You can't shame them.

Unfortunately, many locals do not look at WP with the same magnifying glass as you do. WP is the underdog like all other oppo parties in the country. They made one wrong move, it became an avalanche. When the pappies made a mistake, it was a minor soil erosion. The major issue is not about hawkers' centres or running town councils. It is about the pappies' pro foreigners policies and the affect on local sinkies, their jobs, housing and a host of other ancillary factors.

PAP says this election is so important for the future of sinkapore. For such an important event, PAP is willing to let sinkees ONLY 11 days to consider. See the PAP bullshit.

If it is that important, a one-month campaign should be the norm.

If the Opps bring on the old issues of 2011 GE in this coming GE, they are really running out of ideas. Obviously, they are not seeing the progress made by PAP on those issues.

Look at the cabinet reshuffle after the 2011 GE and you know PAP is dead serious about making policies more accommodating to Singaporeans. They have come a long way since 2011. Much improvements have been made on the housing issue, health care issues and even on the immigration and FT issue. There is always a tough choice when it comes to making the right policy and the government is careful not to tilt the weight to either side of the spectrum.

indeed ...well said.
winners is a air blower here.
empty n useless.

Those 'old' issues r still around and some has gotten worse!

Sure, there will always be the poor and downtrodden in whatever country we go. But the crux of the issue is whether the Singapore government is doing better than other countries in taking care of her poor citizens.

Name a country in the region that is doing better than Singapore in taking care of the poor and downtrodden.

Can we do more ? Of course, the government can always do more. But, will there be trade-offs ?

Do our ministers know what they are talking about? Do they come with the facts and statistics to support their claims?

What 's about the Opps ? Do they have the statistics to prove otherwise or they are just hot-air arguments?

Can the Opps do a better job ?

If they can run a town council well , perhaps ...
You have not understood the issue. It has nothing to do with taking care of the poor nor performing better than other countries. It has to do with sincerity and transparency. Medishield life helps the poor but the trade-off is that the middle income groups and above will now be footing part of the bill. Without Medishield life, govt is footing the entire bill for the poor. So why repackage and claim that govt. is helping the poor? Why not be honest and declare that everyone is chipping in to reduce the govt's burden.

After 2008 crisis, quick fix for the economy is critical and bringing ft at the terms of the mnc is the fastest course of action they know of to sustain the economy. Why not tell the truth instead of the twisted way that ft is helping to create job. Ft is not helping to create job. It is creating economic activities to help sustain the existing jobs so as to pull through the downturn. The trade off is PMET losing jobs to Fts.

All the measures are good for the economy in general and especially for the rich. To the workers, they only get to face the problem of overcrowding and rising cost. How would a sane person faced with such negativities agree that ft is good.

A leader is to lead and motivate. Not just sweet talking and giving clever speeches. After awhile, they would feel the disparity between what was preached and what they are actually facing. When the trust is lost, nobody is interested in statistics. It will be taken as being doctored. Nobody is going to appreciate that they are better off than other countries because they felt that they were cheated.

Their biggest mistake was in their attempt to hide the truth and put on a brave front, like they are invincible and above all problems. If they had never claim to be providing first class transport system, people may not react so aggressively to mrt breakdowns. There is no need to boast. By being humble and truthful to the people of the real problem, their achievements would have been much more appreciated.

On the foreigner's immigration, the government has taken steps to reduce the influx of foreigners after the 2011 GE. As a result, the SMEs are suffering. They could not find enough workers in the F & B and hospitality businesses. Some of the SMEs are forced to close shop or relocate overseas.

I don't think the government is ready to operate on a welfare system. There are concerns on the long term implication of such a system on the motivations of workers and whether the system is sustainable as in the long run, there will be more singaporeans retiring than those entering the workforce.
So, a scheme has to be worked out so that the poor can still be taken care of while at the same time, the system also takes care of the better off. If not, the alternative will be to tax more on the rich in order to pay for the poor.

hopefully the FAP will shutter and move overseas as well.

but the money the makan must be left behind.

I don't know why the PAP keeps telling us that they are incorruptible ? their corrupt brother Phey Yew Kok returned back to Singapore just 3 months ago after 36 years on the run.

sorry to correct you but pray your cock is a founding father.

Y ppl wana join pap. Bcos MPs n Ministers r paid way above mkt! Y r we paying them so high? Pap say hard to find. So if contractors hard to find also must pay high. Simple answer.TC profit n High MP pay t meant for pap only. Given to outsiders they heartache. As citizens we must not b fooled!
