This guy is a chow ah Beng.
Not sour grapes but dunno how this chain grew so big so fast. Nothing special about their food. If dig into their accounts maybe can find more illegal wrongdoings.

Anyway fixing the gas meter is an ah Beng trait like getting free wifi or cable tv illegally. There're a whole black market out there. This guy was just too greedy that's why got caught

No lah it's a mudlander trait to fix the meter to steal electricity in this case gas. My JB contractor offered to do that for me too, boasting how much money he saved every month. Must have learnt from mudlanders if they are not mudlanders themselves.

dont sure if Chua Family will send legal letter to me for defamation?
however, why we cant call them cheater?
Straits Times which is owned by government already called them cheat

Found guilty by court with incriminating evidence of tampering with gas meter so they are confirmed cheaters. Don't based on mudlander crooks words to call people cheaters. Like mudlander dogs here calling socialite as chicken and mistress.

hahaha...in Singapore, it is almost impossible to get away with tampering/theft of utilities....
the authority have very sophisticated monitoring software to detect abnormal consumption patterns.....

many households and small businesses used a small piece of "special" powerful magnet (bought from friends) to put at the incoming meters to slow down the rotation of the meters and hence reducing the electricity bills....
however they were usually detected within a few months by the authority which will send inspectors at odd hours (nighttime, sundays, public holidays) to catch the offenders red handed.....
most small time first time offenders were let off with warning.....

No lah in mudland also have monitoring device. From what I heard the staff will come and check too. But these mudlander crooks tamper without trace so it's hard to detect from outside. They also try to put all the air con units together in a place that cannot be detected like on top of the roof or something..

....Cheat more than $640,000 worth of gas without paying a cent for it, and yet he Energy Market Authority (EMA), which regulates the gas industry, is asking for the maximum fine of $610,000 - $10,000 for each of the 21 tempering charges it was convicted of, and $50,000 for each of the eight dishonest consumption charges. Still profitable to cheat as fine is less tha amount cheated...

Since there is a funny law in sinapo, where the criminal is sentenced not on the total number of charges faced in court, but on only preferred charges while the other remaining charges are taken into consideration, which is to say, put away in the drawer, the criminal is not punished for the full fact of his crime.

Criminals are indirectly encouraged to cheat and engage in crimes to beat the system. If caught, what is the big deal? Out of 100 charges, only 10% might be considered and it would mean a small rap on the knuckle to the criminal. Do the same crime in USA and the criminal facing 100 charges will not get out alive from the prison but in sinapo, he will be out in a couple of years.

So, who is afraid of committing crimes in sinapo?

Not true lah. In mudland, there is the mutual scratching of backs. You pay the inspector on the side or his syndicate on the sly and all will be well. Still, must pay a little for usage so as not to arouse suspicion from Govt. Both sides win, only Govt loses but in mudland, the PM never loses.

End of Paradise. Pay back time.

If this restaurant could indulge in cheating the Govt, what could have stopped them from fleecing their customers? Bad publicity of this cheating case should alert customers to be wary when dining at this restaurant group like over-billing and rojaking with all kinds of charges added.

With so many foreigners run eateries in sinapo, this illicit tampering of gas/water/electricity meters is an on-going daily affair. To these foreigners, meter tampering is common in their own kampong, cheating the Govt is fair game and cheating their customers is smart business.

Huh you mean my JB contractor bluffed me when he said his skill very good and the tampering sure cannot be detected? Yes you are right about the paying of inspector on the side once detected. Heard that this is the case for those mudlanders caught building illegal extension. Btw also heard that it is not once off payment, the inspector will appear now and then lol.
