Saddened to learn about the passing of Professor Lim Chong Yah.
Prof Lim was a distinguished economist and renowned scholar who made significant contributions to Singapore’s economic development. As the founding chairman of the National Wages Council and subsequently the Skills Development Fund Advisory Council, he built a strong foundation for tripartism and skill training, which are the key tenets of our economy and society.
Prof Lim was also a mentor to many outstanding economists. As Emeritus Professor at both National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, he has left an indelible impact on students and academia with his sharp insights and dedication to serving Singapore.
My deepest condolences to Prof Lim’s family and loved ones.

Joined some 2,000 residents at the East Coast Community Day at Siglap Community Club over the weekend. There were fun-filled activities for everyone, including workshops and information booths set up by our community partners where our residents got to pick up new skills!
Delighted to see residents spending quality time with loved ones and making new friends along the way. Such events help to bring our residents closer, to build a more caring, green and vibrant East Coast together. My thanks to our volunteers, community partners and residents for making our East Coast Community Day a joyful and memorable one!

HSK seeks everyone's patience.

Integrity and transparency are, and will always be, the fundamental pillars of Singapore’s governance. Singaporeans expect political leaders to abide by the highest standards of integrity, including a zero tolerance approach against corruption. We will never compromise on this, to uphold the trust that Singaporeans have placed in the PAP government.
In my meetings with business leaders here and overseas, a key attribute which they value is the integrity of our government. It gives them the confidence to invest in Singapore and this creates good jobs for our people. We must therefore do our utmost to uphold this valuable attribute.
I seek everyone's patience to let the CPIB conduct a thorough investigation, and provide its findings in due course.
DPM Lawrence Wong spoke earlier about the ongoing investigation. You can find his full remarks here: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/.../full-dpm-lawrence...

HSK visited a Food Hub.

Tang yuan, pratas, gyozas, and popiah – which is your favourite? Local enterprise Tee Yih Jia produces delicious frozen food products that can be found not just in our local supermarkets, but more than 80 countries worldwide!
Visited their new Food Hub at Senoko Drive, which is highly automated and houses Singapore’s largest cold-room storage, which can store 80,000 pallets of food in sub-zero conditions! Such automation reduces the need for manual, repetitive work, which enables their workers to be more productive and perform tasks with high skills content. Tee Yih Jia’s factory is one of the most highly automated factories I have visited – their investment in automation reflects both foresight and their courage to innovate!
Happy to hear that Tee Yih Jia has also set aside R&D spaces within their Hub to incubate food startups, help them scale their production and expand overseas. It’s wonderful to see our homegrown enterprises making a mark in international markets while supporting and nurturing startups in their growth journeys. While companies should compete to build distinctive strengths, they should also collaborate to harness the synergies of cooperation. A good balance will go a long way in strengthening our innovation ecosystem, and in this case of food, enhancing Singapore’s food security to meet our 30-by-30 goal.
My thanks to Mr Sam Goi and the team at Tee Yih Jia for the briefing and tour, and wishing the company continued success in the years ahead!

Community flea markets are a great way to bring residents together to sell their pre-loved items, and those with small businesses or hobbies to display their wares. It’s an opportunity for our young residents to also hone their entrepreneurial skills, going by the number of young residents who promoted their toys and books to me!
Good to see Singaporeans embracing a more sustainable lifestyle by giving items that they have outgrown or do not use anymore, a second lease of life instead of throwing them away.
Do keep a lookout for more of such flea markets in Bedok at We Love Bedok!

Joined Jamiyah Singapore and Bedok CC MAEC (Malay Activity Executive Committee) to distribute 150 packs of korban meat to our residents yesterday. Thank you to all our volunteers who worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that the sorting and distribution went smoothly.
The korban ritual encapsulates the Hari Raya Haji spirit of sacrifice and selfless giving. Heartwarming to see this meaningful initiative sharing care and nourishment within our Caring East Coast community!

Honesty and integrity are the People's Action Party's core values, and our MPs are expected to uphold rigorous standards of propriety and personal conduct. This is how we have built, retained and renewed trust with Singaporeans over the generations.
I am thus disappointed with and saddened by the events that led to the resignation of two colleagues in Parliament. Notwithstanding their dedication and diligent service to their residents, the PAP must maintain discipline, and continue to demand the highest standards of personal conduct from its members. This is important to safeguard the Party’s, and Singapore’s, reputation for integrity and incorruptibility.
A high level of trust in our governance has enabled Singapore to thrive, and Mr Lee Kuan Yew has always reminded us to have the moral courage to lead with integrity. So I fully support PM’s decision to set things right, even if it is difficult and inconvenient. While this is a serious setback, we must uphold standards and do our best to restore trust and confidence. It is also a setback for Chuan-Jin, Li Hui and their families, and I hope that the public will give them the time and space to heal.

HSK glad to meet Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun over lunch.

Glad to meet Chongqing Party Secretary Yuan Jiajun over lunch today. We had a wide-ranging discussion on the many areas of cooperation between Singapore and Chongqing where we have our third Government-to-Government project, the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (CCI).
I was last in Chongqing in 2019, just before the pandemic, and had seen first-hand Chongqing’s development and our collaboration on the CCI. Almost four years on, I am happy that the CCI-New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has continued to progress well, and I look forward to visiting Chongqing again!
Secretary Yuan has had a good visit in Singapore over the past few days, and he departs today. I wish him smooth and safe travels ahead.

Singapore's multiracial society is a cherished strength and we must continuously nurture this diversity. Attended the Narpani Pearavai Community Carnival with Janil Puthucheary over the weekend. There were numerous booths sharing about the Indian community’s rich cultural heritage and activities, which contribute to the rich tapestry of Singapore’s multiracial and multicultural society.
Grassroots organisations like Narpani Pearavai play an important role in engaging the community, promoting understanding across communities, and strengthening our social cohesion.
I hope that Narpani Pearavai will continue to mobilise the community to onboard national programmes, deepen bonds across communities, and develop the next generation of youth leaders to serve the community and Singapore. Keep up the good work!
