A 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit western Indonesia on Apr. 25 around 3am local time (4am Singapore time), triggering a tsunami warning which lasted around two hours, according to the country's geophysics agency, BMKG.

As a result, a number of residents in Singapore claimed they had felt the tremor in their homes this morning.

For example, someone who lives in Marine Parade shared a video on Xiaohongshu showing the ceiling light in his flat, situated on the 18th floor, shaking throughout the 30-second clip.

In the caption, he added that he was awakened by the tremor at 4am today.

Initially, he thought he was hallucinating as he never thought he could have felt the tremor so clearly.

Another Xiaohongshu user, who lives in Boon Keng, also shared that she felt her flat was shaking when lying on her bed at 4:05am.

She said that she was so scared she decided to put on some clothes so that she would not need to evacuate her home naked in the event the situation worsened.

Turkey's buildings collapsed because they don't have an equivalent of a BCA or HDB to check on their buildings. You should be grateful for the PAP.

thanks to the big island of sumatra which absorbs the shock and awe sg is 69% safe from any major earthquake. but if it hits 9.6 which can be possible off west coast of sumatra all bets are off. worst is when supervolcano toba goes off. pyroclastic ash cloud floats to the east due to earth’s rotation and will cover entire malay peninsula including red dot. sumatra gives and takes. can protect sg but can also destroy sg.

Apparently the East Coast area has a new threat. Earthquakes. If a real big one hits, those condos will topple because they on reclaimed marine sediment land.
But not if the seawater hasn't corroded the pilings supporting these condos first!

Life in sumatra must be exciting. For them, this is normal. Not even discussed 8n the pubs and coffee shops.

Relax. Singapore is shielded by sumatra and also by East Coast Park, which was also built on reclaimed land.
