Dr Mahathir talks with sense !
Though he is old, he still has the brainer.
I am not a big fan of Dr Mahathir but he deserves outmost respect for speaking up strongly against rubbish and childish things.
One thing stands out clearly is that demolishing the old causeway and replace it with whatever bridge is good for the environment, this is very very true.
One can take a look at Pasir Ris beach, the water is filthy and stinks. Sewage from JB side is flowing around the serangoon harbor that causes skin to itch if you swim the water.
Replace the old causeway will clean the straits naturally.
But on Singapore side, we cannot understand what is happening but many blindly feel that singapore is a victim ..
Mahathir is also 100% right to say that CIQ at JB side is not fully optimized becos of the ancient relic.
If the old relic is replaced with widened new bridge, the jam will disappear. Thus, third bridge or MRT is not necessary.
I am not taking side, based on the facts that Dr Mahathir has spoken, local Singaporeans should realise that it is Singapore that is giving difficulties to Malaysia.
On singapore side, there are many hidden things we don’t understand, but on Malaysia side, Dr Mahathir speaks freely with no hidden agenda. Straight and not cryptic. This is the beauty of DR Mahathir.
I hope Dr Mahathir is reading this post, I wish him luck and health and sincerely encourage him to continue speaking up more and more the truth for local Singaporeans to understand.
Mahathir against idea of third bridge
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad said he was opposed to the idea of a third link between Johor and Singapore.
He instead revived his old idea of replacing the Johor Causeway with a 'crooked bridge'.
'I think it's better for the government to build the crooked bridge instead of third bridge,' he was quoted as telling reporters yesterday by the Malaysian Insider online news.
He was responding to questions over the rejection by the Sultan of Johor of the proposed new bridge. The idea of linking eastern Johor to Singapore by the so-called third bridge was raised by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Tun Dr Mahathir said he feared a third bridge would affect operations at Pasir Gudang Port. Replacing the existing Causeway between Johor and Singapore would be more beneficial as it would allow the free movement of water, which would make the strait cleaner.
Dr Mahathir also said the new Customs, Immigrations and Quarantine complex in Johor Baru was not operating at what should be the optimal level, because the old Causeway remained.
He had mooted the idea of replacing Malaysia's side of the Causeway with an S-shaped bridge, widely known as the crooked bridge. But the project was cancelled by his successor, Tun Abdullah Badawi.
Meanwhile, at a dinner event on Thursday, Dr Mahathir took another potshot at Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew's recent high-profile visit to Malaysia.
He sarcastically said Mr Lee thought 'a lot of Malaysians are a little bit green in terms of their political understanding and in solving problems. So he has come to teach our politicians very important lessons'.
Malaysia, said Dr Mahathir, can 'expect better results now, since Mr Lee, the teacher of politics, has come to Malaysia', Malaysiakini online news yesterday quoted him as saying.
