So, the PAP has finally relented and allowed nurses to don the tudung at work. The enlightened decision comes 20 years late but, as they say, better late than never.

20 years because in 2002, I had spoken about the matter at the Speaker’s Corner urging the government to embrace the right for Muslim women to wear the headscarf as part of their uniform. I was prosecuted and fined $3,000.

PM Lee Hsien Loong’s rationale is that wearing such gear will disrupt the image of unity in the public sector. What he fails to understand is that values like unity and loyalty are cultivated from within each person and how citizens perceive the state is treating them, not what one wears in public.

This is something I don't agree with CSJ! So what's next? Allowing those minah SQ gals donning the kebaya with tudung?

20 years ago PAP still had clout with sinkies.

In 2021 with LKY not around and Wooden Puppet going senile, Pinky Loong has to do this kind of low class stunt for minority support

Yeah. What's wrong with letting Malay females wear Tudung? As long as it is practical and presents no safety issues. Why not?

The Tudung is a religious practice. So everytime you see a Malay lady wearing a Tudung she is practicing her religion.

So essentially the new rules are saying we allow you to practice your religion at work.

Deep inside, chinese hate the guts of the malays and you can see that here. And slso the way they treat malay customers at their businesses.

I think it is all this hostlity all over.

Maybe thats why Malays also like to point out to restaurant managers that other tables have outside baby food that is non halal so they can throw the patrons out. Revenge is sweet!

Pandering to the mudslimes is pure stupidity. And since when is the Tudung part of Malay culture?

There are some really nasty people out there who likes to make a big fuss over small matters. Of course now it's even worse for Malays as china is big and powerful.

No one is stopping her from her religious practices but if you're working in a uniform grp, just comply to whatever you're supposed to wear during working hrs. There shouldn't be special treatment for any particular race or religion.
