NObody in their right mind would risk their career by suggesting anything that pisses off LHL... the exercise itself is flawed... just imagine you select a bunch of your subordinates to make recommendation on your salary.

If there is any sincerity, LHL himself could have easily suggested a different formula or volunteered a cut. Instead, an "independant" committee is "appointed" to... JUSTIFY their salaries. The most likely outcome would be to suggest a cut (big enough to be cheered) affecting those outside the inner circle... but possibly nothing affecting the inner circle

Temasek + GIC is $650 billion

the latter is the far vaster sum, and is much less transparent

it is clear to me that citizens' interest should be on our reserves, and not ministerial salaries
