DPM Teo blamed a leaked hydraulic fluid for the barrier at the Causeway which failed to stop a Malaysian motorist who drove through the barrier.
The real answer is COMPLACENCY and he should not try to pull over our eyes.
He also said that to prevent a repeat, security barriers at the checkpoint will now be checked DAILY instead of every THREE MONTHS!. The difference in the 'checking period' is indicative of how much things have degenerated in the system and its maintenance.
He also proudly proclaimed that another 30 counters will be added to the checkpoint by 2016.
The DPM should come down to brass tacks and admit that the management of the checkpoint's equipment etc has been substandard over the years.
When are they ever going to tell things as they are?
What do you think?
