SINGAPORE: Nearly 14,500 commuters travelled on the Downtown Line 1 (DTL1) between 6am and 3pm on Monday, its first weekday of operations.
The number was taken from five stations and it excludes passengers boarding from the Promenade Station which shares its faregates with the Circle Line.
The number of commuters was some 60 per cent higher than on Sunday when it was first opened, and numbers are expected to be even higher in a few weeks’ time once the holiday season is over.
Commuters said the ride on the trains has been smooth so far, with some being able to save some travelling time.
One said: " I think (I) probably saved about 5 to 10 minutes, including waiting time."
