The situation in South America now:
Brazil - 33 points (qualified)
Paraguay - 33 points (qualified)
Chile - 30 points (qualified)
Argentina - 25 points (still in contention)
Uruguay - 24 points (still in contention)
Ecuador - 23 points (still in contention)
This Wednesday will see the last round of group games wrapped up. Only 2 games matter now:
Chile v. Ecuador - Chile has already qualified and can afford to lose. Ecuador must win and hope that Uruguay and Argentina draw.
Uruguay v. Argentina - The winner will qualify. If it's a draw, then it depends on the Chile v. Ecuador outcome above.
Argentina will be knocked out outright only if they lose to Uruguay and Ecuador beat Chile, otherwise still good for a play-off at least.
Argentina will qualify outright if they beat Uruguay, regardless of other results, and vice versa for Uruguay too.
