Dollah Kassim has just passed on ......

In the 70s and 80s, Kallang Stadium was the best and biggest in the region. But by 2000s, with its unsheltered wooden benches for terraces, it became one of the most archaic embarrassments in a city-state with first world per capita GDP. Modern stadia are now all-seaters and all-sheltered. It must either go for be upgraded. I'd have preferred for it to be upgraded of course, for old times' sake. But the powers-that-be have other ideas, a few hiccups but things got going now.

Mat Noh, Samad Alapitchay, Dollah Kassim, S Rajagopal, Arshad Khamis, Quah Kim Song, Eric Paine, Hasli Ibrahim, V Khanisen,Au Yong pak Kwan, Abbas Saad,Fandi Ahmad, V Sundramoorthy David Lee and more names i cant remember.
They were the stuff that brought the Kallang Roar and the msian State teams to their knees whenever they played at the National Stadium
Not forgetting the triangular curry puff outside the stadium must have for 70cents!

how can you forget the own goal champion lim tong hai. a lot of my friend till today still fucking him for few of the own goals that make them lose money LOL

i like steven tan a lot last time, love to see him play. whenever he come on pitch, expectation on him is very high. SUPERSUB!

In the '70s at kallang, they used to hand out those long balloons with whistles. I cannot remember if you've to pay for it but as a kid I was always handed one.
Everyone will release the balloons in unison when the Singapore team enters. The sights and sounds of thousands of balloons going off is something I'll never forget.

I remembered those days have no SISTIC booking. One have to queue up overnight at national stadium to buy the Malaysia Cup tickets. No one is complaining but only satisfying smile after holding the tickets.

I remembered I sell Drinks, Koropok, Kuehchi at the Stadium during the start and interval of the match. No one is interested to eat and drink when the match started. My stocks always sellout and have to go back to stall to replenish manu rounds. Earning $20 those days is a big thing for a school boy like me ... No bad still get to watch the match for free ....hee hee hee

Those good old days ...

Don't forget to reward the PAP for removing you from your good old days at the next elections.
