A Stomper's dad was dying, yet doctors at Alexandra Hospital lacked proper bedside manners and were spotted giggling at the family's sad situation.
Unimpressed and insulted, the STOMPer wrote in to the hospital and copied STOMP in this email:
¡°To whom it may concern,
On 16th August 2008, my late dad was admitted to Alexandra Hospital. He was warded at Ward 12 Bed 19. We, the whole family (except my elder brother came around 8am plus) stood by him from 3.40am till his last breath at 1.25pm. However during the stay, we were unhappy with the 'act' given by few of the doctors.
¡°We knew my late dad was fighting for his life. He was given oxygen support and barely gasping for air. However, a few doctors came and to my surprised, a lady doctor (together with another two) left laughing away upon seeing our family¡¯s sad scenario.
¡°I suspect she was a trainee doctor as she was not wearing any kind of uniform.
¡°Three lady doctors were making their rounds to check on the patients. As one of the doctors stopped by to inform us about our late dad's condition, another doctor left giggling away together with the group.
¡°Was there anything funny? In fact, we were so sad looking at our poor late dad's condition. He was fighting for his life.
¡°How insulting that was to me. That was not all. My elder brother who was sitting at the patient's corner also witnessed them stopping outside pointing at where I was sitting (behind my back blocked by the partition) and laughing away.
¡°I just wonder how many others they have insulted besides my family. Isn't it too much?
Put yourselves in our shoes, what would you feel?
¡°I hope you can look into this matter, and put a stop to this disrespectful act. How can you simply laugh away on such a matter concerning life and death.
¡°Please do not hesitate to reply me back by e-mail.¡±
This is Alexandra Hospital¡¯s response to the sender:
