Our forefathers came with just the shirts on their backs, hoping to find a new home in a poverty stricken country under Brit colonial rule. No piped water, no electricity, a triad infested country run by headmen, paying protection money to stay live, police as corrupt as a rat, etc.

Today, these foreigners came to sinkie land because it is a successful country. If sinkie land is like Philippines or Cambodia, would these foreigners flood into the island?

Times have changed and these foreigners are no longer here to build the country. They are here to leech on the fruits of success.

The problem with the PAP is that it genuinely believes its own hype. From it comes delusion, arrogance, obstinacy and a lot of other undesirable traits. It sees itself as the saviour, the life support machine that Singapore is plugged in to.

That's all there is to it.

Our forefathers came to Singapore because there was work and the situation in Singapore, although not ideal, was still loads better than the southern chinese shit hole they originated from.

Most of them had no intention of staying at the time either. Most harbored thoughts of returning to China once they had made their money. China was home to them and they regarded themselves as 海外华人 first an foremost.

The second world war boosted the patriotism that overseas Chinese felt for the motherland even further. A considerable number returned to China to fight the Japs. The wealthier ones sent money and equipment home.

It was only from the mid 60s did the Chinese start to feel that Singapore was a permanent home.

Give the new immigrants time and they will call Singapore home too. It took the Chinese more than a century to consider themselves Singaporeans first and Chinese second. You need to give the immigrants more time to settle in. Rome was not built in a day.

Many Singaporeans Chinese moved out of sinkieland at the moment even sinkiekand, by your standards, is successful. What happen? Most of them are rich, educated and successful.
