Do you think the pay cut will influence the 2016 elections?

Will the PAP gain back votes based on this so-called reduction in salaries (which still makes the most junior minister here the highest paid in the world)? Or will they lose out because the pay cut isn't enough?

No, PAP will still fuck it up in other ways. That said, its a first step of trying to win back the votes they lost. 4 Years is still a long time away.

Anything can happen in the next 4 years.. At these present moment of time, some guillible Sporeans will think that the PAP is so magnanimous in reducing their pay... Must remember that there will be other well paid job opportunities put on a platter for them when they leave the Cabinet.... More Oppposition must be sent to the Parliament in 2016.. The PAP must not be given even an inch to breathe..

indeed. it would be great if we can half their pay in 2016. sadly, Singaporeans have poor memory

As long as our MRT is packed, our population remained at 5.5 mil, inflation is high, Singaporean's salary is depressed and stagnated. PAP will not escape the risk of being voted out.

I guess if PAP wants to win voters heart... PM Lee should implement this new salary near 2016 just before election!

He promise to do a review in 2010 and his integrity is on the line, his face is as red as his shirt. As with SM Goh said let's "bite the bullet" and go ahead with change.

No! It's the 2016 election that will influence the next big cut.

It will backfire on PAP for trying to con voters again n again..........

Who else can you vote for other than PAP?

I won't be surprised PAP will win by the same margin or even more. This pay cut is a blow to the oppositions because they have one less fault to find. Pay cuts have to be progressive. You don't cut 50% at one go.

4 more years to go, PAP may cut down the salaries slowly as the time goes.

Oppositions should not be too happy yet.

The ministers salary review must be conducted on a yearly basis
Just like the NWC to decide on the annual salary & bonus
increase or decrease.

Change the formula to benchmark with first world leaders then no need to waste taxpayers' money doing reviews.

not at all...........the opposite will happen especially after Grace Fu's screw-up...........she won't be in the next elections now....

no surprises, the 60% of morons will continue to vote the same way, as they did in the prev GE. the question now is, how many of the remaining 40% will swing in lieu of the recent pay cut, depends if they too have sh*t for brains.

ministerial salary previously was pegged to top 5% salaries on this island. now, they say its a pay cut, pegged to top 1000 salaries of pink IC holders. so, 1000 out of 3.5M pink IC holders is 0.028% of the top sgporean salaries.

and, if being pegged to the top 0.028% of sgporeans warrant ±50% pay cut, do u realise how pathetically underpaid r singaporeans? imagine the tip of our spear is merely drawing wages ½ of what some top 5% mixtures?

so, if we see the votes swing in favor of the pappies... we can be quite certain that there r alot plenty more morons than we thought. and if, the votes swing in favor of the alternatives, we can safely say that more have become enlightened.

If they think pay = salary = income, then these sinkies are not only gullible, but also not well informed.
