Do MPs have to pay for CNY dinners ?

This TOC wondered how much money has been splurged by the RCs on these CNY dinners:

“Residents have to pay $25 per head for these dinners. Do the MPs have the pay ? They should pay much more since they are so filthy rich. The RCs should organize free meals for the poor residents weekly instead of wasting money on such extravagant meals to “POR” their MPs.

they are guests of HONOR and they don't pay, and should any $$ raised for charity/watever, they are given the credits.

It's not just MPs..
From time memorial, VIPs do not have to pay.. or they get discounts in coutnry clubs membership, condos, etc etc.

VIPs can be celebrities, rich businessman, influencer, politicians..

So, don't blame the MPs.. you should blame the citizens..
why did they want to pay $25 to eat with the MP??
but then.. there could be a variety of reasons like maybe the person dont have family .. and want to celebrate with others. .etc etc..

So, dont make every issue into a elite versus lesser mortals. It does you no good.

You must be joking. Of course the residents have to pay the MPs appearance fees. Just like superstar singers, you must pay them to listen to their "Stay Positive" speeches during this recession.
