- Survived the most chaotic reform in the 1950ties
* Career path arranged for him

- Opportunist, take advantage of situation
* rely on his perm secretaries to feed him options

- Almost killed by Japanese
* He can affect the life and death of many here

- treasure his men (Dhanabalan, Goh Keng Swee,....Toh Chin Chye )
* believes in rotation (Mah Boh tan, Wong Kan Seng . . .. . )

- thrifty
* enjoy life

- Charismatic and firm
* rewards high salary to his men

- argue with facts and legal structure
* statements and reasoning are all prepares for him

- Was look down by the British in the 70ties
* He look down on the British

Have to disagree. What military man? What BG? Just got a one way ticket through the entire civil service and become PM. This guy has been riding daddy's coat tails since he was born. Until now, he has not done an honest day's work.

Don't u know his much touted 13-year military career was spent on his overseas studies (grad/post-grad )and staff appointments? His 1-star is a farewell present prior to entering politics; that's all! He certainly didn't earn it on the battlefiled like the rest of the fake generals. Worse still, when he was LTC he wasn't even tasked or entrusted to organise our biggest military operation, i.e. the NDP!
