Agreeing on the bid process is strange . Our local contractors tried to do it with FTs like PRC and Bengalas . But fail miserably on keeping the cost down .
CCF seems to do it better . You wonder why ?

But why are we allowing people to reside in Singapore ?
When their business interest is mainly out of Singapore .

Look under the bonnet and you notice a lousy copy Mitsubishi engine from Datsun 120Y days. 2.4l engine producing only 100kw of power. Even less powerful than a Honda Civic 1.8 engine.
(The chinese mei mei equivalent of "under the bonnet" is when she open her mouth to speak. The engine sound similar to her voice)

Since PRC made cars are already being sold here, these deadly tyres must have already been fitted in those cars. Whether these tyres are being sold here or not becomes irrelevant when it comes to road safety.

For normal car 15/16inch each tyre just cost about $100 for brand. Why would anyone want to buy China/ no branded tyre ? How much can they save?

As i've mentioned time & again, consumers are king and if you are conscientious during your purchase, you can totally eliminate doggy made products from your lifestyle altogether with no added cost albeit even lower household expenses.

Aiyah buyer beware.

Does not matter where the thing is made, look at who is selling the stuff. If tire branded Bridgestone and made in China then no problem. Something wrong you can go after Bridgestone.

But if item has no brand or company is unknown then be careful because even if it says made in USA or Japan, the company could be a $2 company and merely a trading company. No assets to go after.

The Chinese sell millions of cheap tires and most have no issues or else we will have thousands of cars getting into accidents due to faulty tires and the retailers will go broke.

If you do not know the market then just buy branded goods have have peace of mind. The NTUC taxi fleet people know which tire mfg have good standards so fro them savings could be substantial. FYI most prime movers and trailer trucks in Singapore are using Chinese or Indian made tires.

To be fair, a tire may be made for agricultural use. Great for farm equipment working the fields. They might be able to sell that tire for cheap because the Gov might subsidize farm equipment and supplies.

But if they try and sell that tire for cars that cruise at 140km/h, you might have big issues.

Last time, I drove for SMRT, they using Sanook(Thai made) tyres. I think Taxi companies shld all standardise and use Stamford or Bridgestone,not because they are better but a brand that can be trusted.
