SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) retrieved the body of a Chinese man found floating in the river at Clarke Quay Thursday morning.
SCDF says it was alerted to a drowning case at the Singapore River in front of the Quayside Seafood Restaurant at 5.30 am.
It dispatched its teams to the site and members of the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) conducted water surface searches using an amphibious vehicle.
Two DART rescuers were also deployed to conduct point diving in the waters near the area where the victim was last seen.
The body was found about two hours later at 7.20 am, located about 3 metres away from the bank.
The man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
This is the second case of drowning in the area.
On December 20, police found the body of a security guard who went missing at Robertson Quay near the Singapore River.
