The latest move is an admission of guilt.Nothing more nothing less.But as the Christ would say ,let 'Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone'...Similarly are we without any skeletons in our cupboard as well?That's the stand WP core leadership seems to take in this instance.So Yaw been screwing some one else's wife---so what's the big deal,sort of.

But WP does not have the luxury of PAP.WP is not established in the parliament nor in the minds of Singaporeans.It's just establishing and thus such growing up pains.

In fact,if I were in WP core leadership I would look at the whole issue as an opportunity to gain political grounds for the oncoming GE2016.Yaw should admit his sex escapades publicly.Let Yaw quit his post as a MP.Let there be a by election.

Sure,in the by election for Hougnag the chances are that other opposition parties may also compete apart from PAP.This is the real danger since if it's only PAP vs WP;than Hougang voters may not abandon WP for PAP.But if it's three corner fight than WP stand a good chance of loosing Hougang to PAP.

Hence a day of reckoning for WP as an arrogant opposition party is in hand.It's time to eat humble pie for WP.....as it's survival in traditional Hougang ground depends on the graces of other opposition parties.Hence WP is forced to play ball with other opposition parties.Therefore,I simply look at the whole issue as a win win situation for Singapore voters in general.Thanks to Yaw's screwing around.

Now,the other option open to WP is to hide behind PAP protection.Sort of you scratch my back and I scratch your back thingy.I speculate that is exactly what is going on now behind the scene.Evidence of which were widely seen in the latest parliament debate over PAP ministerial salaries.WP silence was really deafening.Worse,how our MSM is keeping mum on Yaw's gallivanting spree.

I often wondered why our MSM was such a goody good shoe where Yaw's screwing of someone's else wify is a god-sent opportunity to tear WP to pieces.You see,such is really newsorthy by any standard.Not only it boost the sales of our flagging MSM sales,it exposes politicians dirt as an undiluted filthy lot.But both PAP and MSM kept silent.....that is somewhat telling.That a deal had been cut between PAP and WP.

Unfortunately,in this days of netizenship and citizenship journalism such maneuvers behind our back does not work any more.It would have 10 years ago.Because politicians like Goh Meng Seng asks why.And the subject itself refuses to go even if other opposition parties do not wish to aggravate WP more than now.Unless some reasonable reasons are tendered--to us.

Overall,I think this episode is grossly in favor of us citizens.

Thought I should highlight that it is a big deal, at least to most human beings across the World. No sane person will vote a home-wrecker into parliament. In Hougang context, I believe most Hougang residents did not vote for WP because the party can "serve" them better. They voted for WP because they understand their importance in keeping the opposition presence in parliament alive. If the Hougang residents wanted someone who can serve their interest best, they would have long voted for PAP instead. Now that opposition presence in parliament is no longer an issue, I will be very surprised if YSL can still win an election once he has admitted that he screwed other people's wife.

On a side note, in my field of work, I sometime need to bring clients out for "entertainment". Some of them are real horny lechers who treat women like toys. But even they, as far as I know, will not go and have sexual relationship with other people's wife. So to the extent that the public forgives the indiscretions as listed above will be dependent on the society and the strata that the party draws its support from. 1) is quite easily forgotten 2 and 3 less so as it is the "corruption" of some sort alleged by GMS. To the extent that 1 might lead to 2 and 3 is besides the point and depends on the individual and his control of his smaller brain, but 1 does not necessarily follow into 2 and 3.

My Gut feel is that YSL will be left in the cold for a while but brought back in. He is just to good on the ground with the elderly with the young to be disposed of so easily. LTK also has an issue as he " chose" YSL and that in a way reflects on him as WP remains a somewhat "Chinese" party in culture at the core despite all the educated graduates joining in.

I take a rather laxical attitude towards 1) just " Play Smart" . But someone within the Party is gaming the rumor system and TR for all that its worth in order to a) take down YSL b) weaken LTK c) play politics.

As it stands I am in two minds about how this process will play out internally within the WP Cadre conference soon enough. I believed that the recent parliamentary disaster was enough reason for a reformation of the LTK SL Tag team and management style but in this manner and process leaves me uncomfortable.

Frankly the position of treasurer and CEC is pretty much hollow in the scheme of things and is remotely attached to one's morality. He probably has less responsibility as admin work is not something people clamour for. More a reward.

They should have issued a warning letter or censured his conduct internally and kept it private. Politically it serves no purpose. In fact it demeans the position of MP. It would have been better to apologise if they wanted to make it public.

I suspect that the party is divided with a one faction wanting blood and this is the only compromise.

I think WP are trying to take the moral high ground here, to try and distance the party and its other members from Yaw, or at least his actions or inactions.
It's not really admittting guilt, but it's as good as saying they don't approve of his actions, whether the allegations are true or merely for getting himself embroiled in gossip.
This could protect the party while sacrificing Yaw, but it could also backfire and taint everyone.
