SINGAPORE: The High Court will deliver a verdict on an appeal by leaders of City Harvest Church next Friday (Apr 7).

The six church leaders were sentenced to jail terms of between 21 months and 8 years in November 2015 for misusing S$50 million of church funds – the largest amount of charity funds ever misappropriated in Singapore. The money was used to bankroll the secular music career of church founder Kong Hee's wife, Sun Ho.

All six launched appeals, arguing their convictions should be overturned.

Prosecutors have urged the High Court to not only uphold the convictions, but to increase the sentences as follows:

Kong Hee: From 8 years to 11 to 12 years' jail

Tan Ye Peng: From 5 years and 6 months to 11 to 12 years' jail

Chew Eng Han: From 6 years to 11 to 12 years' jail

Serina Wee: From 5 years to 11 to 12 years' jail

John Lam: From 3 years to 8 to 9 years' jail

Sharon Tan: From 21 months to 5 to 6 years' jail

The prosecutors said the six "committed fraud of the worst kind" and that the judge had given "undue weight" to mitigating factors by noting that the offenders caused no permanent loss to the church and did not gain personally from their crimes.

These are true Christians. With jesuss cries behind them, their appeal will be successful. They will be saved by the loard and never go to jail.

God is not outside. We are God himself. Don't know why ppl have to go to church in order to feel God.

Whether one is a true Christian or not doesn't erase the sentence for the crime that he has committed.

When Jesus was hung on the cross between two criminals, one of them believed in him as the Messiah. He called on Jesus to remember him when He came into his kingdom. He was not saved from death ,but after his death, he was together with Jesus in paradise.

SINGAPORE - Acquittal, harsher sentences, lighter sentences or status quo - these are the possible scenarios facing six City Harvest Church leaders on Friday (April 7) morning.

Given the cross-appeals, a range of possible scenarios can materialise on Friday.

On one end of the spectrum, the six may be acquitted and walk out free men and women if the court agrees with them that no crime has been committed as no wrongful loss was caused to the church.

But they may end up spending a much longer time behind bars, if the court is persuaded by prosecutors that they deserve a harsher punishment for betraying the trust of church members .

Prosecutors have proposed 11 to 12 years' jail for Kong, Tan Ye Peng, Chew and Wee; eight to nine years' jail for Lam; and five to six years' jail for Sharon Tan.

It is also possible for the court to reduce their sentences if it finds that their original sentences were too harsh for what they had done.

Finally, the High Court may uphold the lower court's decision entirely and dismiss all appeals.

But even after the verdict is delivered, both sides have further legal recourse in what is known as a criminal reference. The procedure allows either side to bring the case higher by asking the Court of Appeal to make a ruling on a question of law of public interest.

However, the court can decline to make a ruling if it finds that the question submitted is not a question of law of public interest.

The possible situation after D-day:

It will surely be D'elight Day for fellow con men Rony Tan, Lawrence Khong and Prince. They are going to take over the whopping share of the gong kia flock abandoning CHC, translating into X% increase in tithe revenue! Blessed are the tithe givers. !!!

It will be Sam's D'elight Day as well, his prolonged quest for Sun Ho goddess shall be more hopeful and less wishful. !!!
