curry

so far sinkie laksa curry is the most unique curry that can only be found in sg. malaysian laksa doesn't come close; it's either spicy and sour like penang style or like curry noodles johor style. me thinks tom yam from thailand, bun bo hue from vietnam, and original spicy and sour laksa are all related.
Yeap, Laksa curry is definitely unique, curry based with dried shrimps, yum yum!!! :D

I actually used to like Malay mee siam curry. But they never improve to add ingredients even though want to increase price. From $0.50 to $2.50 still just the bee hoon and one egg. Not worth the while. Chinese hawkers smarter and fairer. $3.00 can eat duck rice with egg what the fuck for I pay $2.50 for beehoon with egg. Nevermind, let the Muslims eat at their own prices. Muslims can't eat Chinese food anyway. They got captive market let them chop carrotheads among themselves.

Had mutton curry on Sunday. I prefer fish curry with brinjals and lady's fingers. Finger licking good.

yeah, don't understand the rationale for staying true and traditional to ingredients served. in malaysian restaurants here, mee siam is served with egg, tofu and sprinkles of fried shrimplets....for usd7.99! what a rip off. asked why don't they add prawns or fish or crab or other seafood to make it more appealing for local american crowd, and answer is "must stay true and traditional mah!" no wonder can't sell mee siam here unless to sinkie or malaysian diehard. dish will die an eventual death.

have to have that this weekend. brinjals or eggplant whatever, and lady's fingers or okra are best with curry. reminds me of cajun cooking...gumbo.

Yah man, tell them to stick with traditional price lah LOL. Anyway I tried real Indian curry once, not the common Indian Muslim stall all around S'pore. This one at Serangoon Little India. One Indian colleage celebrating promotion and belanjah us there. Booked the half the coffeeshop for about 20 guests. Real Indian stuff nothing to do with halal. Actually not a bad experience. Free flow rice and free flow curries about 8 varieties to go with rice. So it was like two dips of rice with this curry and two dips of rice with that curry and so on. Eating using hand.

Go easy on the rice since don't get too full too fast, the curries came with some meats like chicken, fish, mutton and various veggies too in varying styles. It's not self-service buffet style. Waiters and waitresses go around the tables to offer rice or choice of curry. A little scoop added at a time, but free flow, can ask for more anytime.

This Ah Neh not bad said strictly no need red packet, just small coffeeshop affair. He'll pay from his payrise. Later I asked him how much the cost? He said $8 per head. That's not a bad price for such a feast.

What's different between goat and lamb mutton I still don't know. Got sheep mutton or not? Padang where got mama hawker? You must be high class SRC or SCC.

Here is news for you.The 3 best Nasi Padang food in Padang city itself is run by Padang born Chinese...no kidding !

Nasi Padang is the only Indon food found in the entire Indonesia--all over the islands because of it's popularity but never operated by ethnic Chinese except in rare instances. But the best in Padang itself is run by ethnic Chinese, called 'totak'...I had tasted their version of sea food and it's simply out of this world.

Try Burmese for change. It also has its Chinese version.Though Thais by large makes the best cuisine ,the Burmese makes the most edible food for daily consumption. It has a wide variety of veggies and a good blend of Chinese and Indian spices.Go Peninsula Plaza for the treat.

Cannot catch what you meant. But here is news for you.Burma preceded Thailand in rice export long before Thais emerged.Even today the Vietnamese are outperforming the Thais in rice production. So the Burmese do know a lot about rice.Besides, the Burmese rice tend to be more eco friendly without an overdose of man made urea and other fertilizers in rice cultivation. The best fruits of SEA like durian, mangosteans and others are grown in Mandalay area of Mynmmar.
