An American man threatened to shoot the supermarket because there were too few people in the supermarket wearing masks to shop

On April 17, 2020, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, protesters gathered during the home order and economic stagnation of the Louisiana governor.

On the evening of April 16, the Florida police in the United States arrested a man who threatened to shoot in a local supermarket because he believed that shoppers were wearing too few protective masks against coronavirus. The author stopped this behavior. Police said Robert, a Brooklyn native who is now living in Sebring, is 62 years old. He posted on Facebook that there is a supermarket near his home, but because many customers do not wear masks for shopping, they feel the threat of life and health. So he was angry at people who did not wear masks during the coronavirus outbreak. He will "empty every clip I own", so he is arrested at the local supermarket. The local police said, "Is it necessary to shoot some selfish short videos in the parking lot to threaten people to convey information?" According to reports, Kovner has already published the message on social media. "Trust me, the virus is not the only thing that may cause you Something to die! "(Meaning that I shot you is also a kind)

Many people in local supermarkets still do n’t wear masks

Sebring police, about 85 miles south of Orlando, said: "This is a stressful period, but there is no excuse to create such a threat." "This is not a joke. This is not only a bad day, this is a crime. We will always Take them seriously and you will go to prison. "The police told Robert. After being detained for several hours, investigators said that Robert apologized to about 3,300 members of the Facebook public forum and then claimed that he had lost 7 relatives due to new coronary pneumonia. Robert said that at this time, his mother-in-law is also "fighting for her own life."

Robert was arrested, this is me

Before the epidemic, gunfire continued throughout the United States. On November 5, last year, a 26-year-old white gunman Devon Kelly rushed into a church in Sutherland Springs, a small town in Texas. A semi-automatic rifle opened fire on an innocent crowd, killing 26 people on the spot and injuring more than 20 people. Recently, the well-known CBS Times published a message saying: Sadly speaking, this March is the only month without campus shootings. This news was frequently forwarded by the major media, and from the negative side, it supported how widespread the American guns were. Florida has the loosest gun laws in the United States, and mass shootings are prevalent in the United States, but the Constitution stipulates that citizens ’rights to own guns must be guaranteed.

CBS says no campus shootings are due in March

During the pandemic, gun shops have been listed as essential services, and sales records have been set since March. According to federal guidelines, Florida recommends the use of masks in public places to prevent the spread of disease, but outside cities such as Miami and Miami Beach, it is not mandatory to use face masks because the mayor has ordered masks to be worn in open, closed spaces. By Saturday, Florida had recorded more than 25,269 coronavirus cases, including 680 deaths.

Latest confirmed diagnoses in Florida

As the US economic plan released by Trump began to be implemented on Friday, 23 states across the United States decided to adopt their guidelines. As of now, according to the news released, the beach tourists in Florida suddenly filled up on Saturday. This also worried more local residents in Florida, and Koffner was one of them. Finally, Koffner was accused of threatening to conduct a large-scale shooting. A police spokesperson told the media that he was released on bail of $ 30,000 and his weapons were confiscated.

Local news media reported live photos of the beach on the afternoon of April 18

COVID-19 doesn’t slow down America’s mass shootings

Though the coronavirus has shut down much of the world, one American activity roars along unrestrained:
Mass shootings.
I made this realization after watching national-TV news one recent night with my wife. Amid the wall-to-wall COVID-19 coverage, she said, "You know, I haven't heard about any mass shootings lately. Maybe those have stopped?"
I thought about that observation, then said, "Maybe it's like with snowstorms, when people stay inside and behave better. Maybe that's an upside to the coronavirus: no mass shootings."
So, the next morning, I looked at the website for the Gun Violence Archive. The nonprofit research group tracks mass shootings, defined as those with four or more victims injured or killed. Any typical year, there is about a mass shooting every day, with yearly totals in the mid-300s.
If those facts surprise you, that's a comment on where we are as a country. Mass shootings simply are not big news anymore, just part of everyday life in America.
Anyway, as I started comparing figures between the first four months of last year and this year, a grim picture developed:
The coronavirus has slowed much of America, but not its trigger fingers. Mass shootings continue as always.

Thinking I might've misinterpreted the data, I contacted Mark Bryant, the organization's executive director. He said though last year had more mass shootings than usual, he had expected a lull this year amid stay-at-home orders. However, he has seen this year's numbers continue at the same pace as last year.
"It's really not changed," he said, sighing. "It's not good."
From Jan. 1 to April 11 of 2019, there were 84 shootings. During that same period this year, there were 83.
Though that's about the same, the carnage has increased. During last year's time frame, there were 399 victims. There were 427 this year.
I drilled down further to try to focus on the coronavirus. Finding a starting point was hard, as stay-at-home orders were issued during different times in different states, beginning in mid-March. So, I zeroed in on mass-shooting numbers from March 1 to April 11 both years.
During that shorter time span last year, there were 37 mass shootings in 2019, compared to 38 this year. Meantime, 2019 had 166 victims while this year has seen 192.
Bryant has been stunned by these figures. He and his colleagues (he has a staff of 21) had expected fewer mass shootings and victims, what with COVID-19 orders keeping people out of public places such as bars and (presumably) prompting them to stay home.
"We thought we were going to see some (numerical) diving," Bryant said.
But that hasn't happened. He is still picking through the totals. Yet he has seen three developments:
• With bars and schools closed, public mass shootings have gone down. Still, they continue (though to a lesser degree) because people -- despite stay-at-home orders and social-distancing precautions ― are still hosting clandestine house parties, Bryant said. For example, last Saturday California, where a stay-at-home order is trying to slow one of the nation's worst coronavirus outbreaks, six people were shot at a house party in Bakersfield.
• For reasons Bryant can't explain aside from happenstance, drive-by shootings are up.
• Murder-suicides are up and include multiple victims. Bryant says some of these shootings have involved a sense of despair regarding COVID-19, either one or more of the individuals has the disease, or the shooter is worried about an uncertain and unemployed future.
Bryant said trends will develop more fully as the country and the coronavirus move along. But, regarding mass shootings, he is concerned about a key factor.
"People are stressed," he said. "I wish I could give you a silver lining on this."
As for now, however, he sees no indication of a slowdown in mass shootings.
He sighed again, saying, "Same ol', same ol'."
