[COVID-19 Virus] The Sinkies are fucked Thread.

I took a bus few days back. It was jam packed with school going students and adults. All it takes is just one asymptomatic carrier in a packed bus and all hell going to break loose again.

5 unlinked cases mean there are 5 or fewer +ve carriers out there in the community

The Covid19 pandemic has taught one lesson; do not attempt a high density population as a strategy for economic success. The virus will just cull off excessively crowded cities. Planning for a 10 million population on a little red dot is just too enticing for future viruses to spread in new pandemics.
Most countries practise 2m social distancing but Singapore can only attempt a 1m separation simply because it is just too crowded. The MRT is one example where social distancing cannot be attempted at all.
<<If you are in a crowded space, try to keep 6 feet of space between yourself and others at all times, and wear a mask.>>

Vaccinations will not stop the virus either. Reports of fully vaccinated people getting infected.

No it won't stop the virus but it will get the death rate down to what is hopefully considered to be an "acceptable" level.

SINGAPORE - Three men working at Changi Airport were among seven new Covid-19 community cases reported on Saturday (May 8).

As a precaution, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said it will test all staff working at Changi Airport Terminals 1 and Terminal 3, and Jewel.

The first case is a 57-year-old aviation officer who screens departing and transiting passengers at Changi Airport Terminals 1 and 3.

The Singaporean
was tested for Covid-19 as part of rostered routine testing (RRT) on Wednesday and developed a sore throat in the evening but did not seek medical treatment, said MOH. He went to work the next day, and his sore throat worsened.

On Friday, his pooled test result came back positive and an individual swab taken also tested positive on the same day. His earlier tests from RRT - the last being on April 23 - were all negative for the virus. His serology test result is pending, said MOH.

The second case is a 47-year-old cleaner who works for Ramky Cleantech Services and was deployed at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

The work permit holder is asymptomatic and was detected as part of RRT on Wednesday. He was taken to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) where an individual test was done.

His test result came back positive on Friday. His earlier tests from RRT - the last being on April 21 - were all negative for Covid-19. The ministry has assessed that his case is likely a recent infection despite his positive serology test.

The cleaner had received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Jan 29 and the second dose on Feb 19.

The third employee at Changi Airport is a 33-year-old safety coordinator who works for Shimizu Corporation. He is deployed at Terminal 3 but does not interact with passengers.

He was tested for Covid-19 as part of RRT on Tuesday. He developed a fever after work on Wednesday and sought medical treatment at a general practitioner clinic the next day, where he was tested for Covid-19.

His test result came back positive on Friday, as did his RRT pooled test result, and he was conveyed to NCID. His serology test result has come back negative, MOH said.

Johntan would say they contract it from their spouses, friends etc by not practising social distancing and irresponsible behaviour.
No way they contract it at the airport.

There's no beating this virus. That's why it has to be treated just like any other flu.

It's important that we keep Changi Airport open, no matter what. It's our lifeline. We cannot afford to be racist and xenophobic, even in the name of lame excuses like the covid pandemic.

Singapore should drop all restrictions and get on with making money. The current situation is case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too and the end result is that the country is suffering from all the restrictions imposed while making absolutely no headway in the fight against Covid.

What the cuntry needs now is a leader with "iron in him" in order to make the hard calls rather than middle of the road compromises.
