A COUPLE were hauled to court on Wednesday for allegedly abusing their Indonesian maid. Siti Farhana Mohamed Yahkup, 27, a flight stewardess, is accused of hitting the head of Ms Ningsih, 29, against the wall at her flat in Pasir Ris Drive on Nov 30 last year. The same evening, she is also said to have punched her on the chest once. Her husband, Mohammed Szami At'tirmidzi Supa'at, 29, an airline customer service officer, is alleged to have kicked the maid on the left shin sometime in November last year. The maid had been working for the family since August last year. The couple are represented by Mr Noor Mohamed Marican, who will be making representations. A pre-trial conference is set for Nov 4. If convicted, the couple can be jailed for up to three years and/or fined up to $7,500 on each charge.
