could SINGA-PURA be a fake?

every NDP i would ve trouble answering this question from my little son:

how could sang nila utama see a LION and hence calling this place SINGA-PURA or lion city?

there are no lions in ASIAN COUNTRIES! lions are found in the savannah of african plains.

then what did utama really see? a wild boar? and our country would be named:

BABIPURA? or piggapore?

well? any other funny deductions?:p

it's like calling our icon a MERLION.

if there's no lion in the first place to begin with, how could a merlion evolve? a big old mistake enhanced by another bigger mistake to con tourists?
