Had a good laugh at the progress of our mediacorps channel 8. So funny. I watched and laughed till fell off my chair. Tributes to those who had passed on - the iconic WongSar YehFong and the Big Mouth and MC King. Wau so many old stars appeared - all so happy and so sad that a wonderful era has passed. We were so creative, so natural and so simple. Now, we're so uncreatrive, so unnatural and so complicated and confused.

Anyway, congrats to Channel 8 45 years!!! Well done for the entertainment and thank you for all the laughter and all the tears.

Well, the whole gala brought back yesteryear of memories good and bad. At least they did one programme right that was worth watching. I have to admit, Dennis Chew did a great rendition of Chen Liping in Aiyoyo and could stop laughing at it.

Old Zoe is a have been, I guess the producers ran out of choices and put her in for seniority sake; Hic !

I like Yvonne since she shot to prominence eons back and thru the years you will notice that she has matured in her acting much better then Old hag. And her popularity does not wane compare to old hag.

The culture here did evolved during the 60s, with the famous Wang Sha and Yea Foong. Creativity and freedom of expression allow individuals to express themselves and audience to choose what they like.

But old white scum fiddled with and inject what they think is right for audience to see. Even Jack Neo and Guo Liang did said no creativity and everyone is obeying to instruction and will have their ricebowl safe intact.

Why is not 50 year but 45 year???

Those that watches Channel 8 are either girlie, brain dead or stuck in time.

It is all the above...

In the 1970's they have originality, low budget though, nowadays, they just copy, copy, copy, copy & copy!!!.

If one, remember the Sharp Nite etc..:o

cannot say lidat lah.channel 8 is simple entertainment for simple folks and also complicated folks.channel 5 is pure garbages with fartup values dished out to our young with repeats after repeats.channel 5 watchers are snobs and they hardly speak a word of mandarin.no wonder they're lost kids without any culture, no history and no manners.they're rude, uncouth and barbaric wanting to ape the angmohs. cheers to more good years for channel 8!!!hooray!!! channel 5 is a dead channel..dead and more than dead. what do they have? there's only one the same sing song fella and plenty or rojak speaking rojak english.utterly disgusting!!!

seriously, in those days, entertainment was restricted to books, tv and radio. the TV medium, esp Channel 8, enjoyed a monopoly of the locals' attention and thus has the budget (relatively) then to develop and produce shows that in turn are more or less certain to be watched by locals.

now with internet, dvds, mobile phones and various other entertainment options, there will not be another 45 years of Channel 8. those days are gone.

having said that, it was really nostalgic seeing all those pple last night. I think the show resonates with those over 30s. I still remember Xiao D D. It is amazing.

I really cracked up when the fake Flying Fish (that DJ in the fake muscle suit) said that he does not want any more women after going through two divorces. Damn funny.

the show was a bit draggy at times but it was over all a good effort.

The local dramas before 1990 were great to watch. Maybe I'm biased, perhaps you can enjoy even the simpler of stuffs as a kid.

The quality of dramas from 1990-2000 were mostly still good but since 2000, the scripts writing and creativity have gone terribly downhill.

The problem is the drama scriptwriting or the director? but I believe it's still the same guys who produce the dramas over the last 30 years. Have they totally lost inspiration. After so many nostalgia events, they ought to take a look back at their past work and see where did they went wrong all these years.

C8 is constantly showing all those old dramas after 12am everyday. There is really a charm to all those oldies dramas that can't be found in today production.
