</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td id="content_body" colspan="4" style="color: black;" valign="top"> PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on Thursday expressed his appreciation to the Malaysian contingent to the 19th Commonwealth Games for having surpassed the medal target of 10 gold.
"I wish to congratulate and convey my deepest appreciation to all the national athletes who had ahieved outstanding success at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
"The achievement was Malaysia's best in the history of the Com12-goldmonwealth Games with our contingent winning 12 gold medals," he said.
Najib said this showed that the national athletes had talent and could compete at the international level and thus made Malaysians proud.
"I hope that we see this success as a continuous effort so that we can further improve on this achievement instead of declining later."
He hoped that the experience gained would be used to learn deeper how to prepare athletes to compete at the top level.
He said this to reporters after inspecting the final preparation for the 2011 Budget at the Finance Ministry, here.
Also present were Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin, and Secretary-General of the Treasury Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah.
Najib, who is also the Finance Minister, will present the Budget 2011 in Parliament at 4pm Friday.
Asked on the preparation for the Budget, Najib said: "Alhamdulillah, the budget preparation appeared to be running smoothly."
"The civil servants at the Finance Ministry are certainly working diligently and in high spirits. Some of them will not sleep tonight to ensure that all documents and related materials are being made ready," he added. - Bernama
