A BUS ride for a 33-year-old woman turned into 30 minutes of terror.
Ms Linda Teo, an administration manager, claimed she was beaten up by a male passenger.
Through it all, other passengers watched but did nothing to help. She had little choice but to fight back, she said.
Ms Teo said the attack happened on July 3 at 6.15pm on SBS Transit bus service 30. The bus was crowded and she sat at a window seat on the upper deck not far from the stairs.
At a bus stop in Pasir Panjang, a middle-aged man came on board and went to the upper deck. He was wearing a light-coloured polo shirt and khaki bermudas and was carrying a white bag.
She said: "He made a gesture at (those in) the front seats as if he was asking people to leave while directing at no one in particular before suddenly moving to sit beside me.
"He kept sneaking glances at me. Then he moved further into the seat. He moved in so much that his whole thigh was pressed against mine and I felt like I was being violated."
She said she told him loudly to "move out a bit".
She added: "But he became very aggressive and pointed at the handles of the seat in front, saying that he was just taking up his half of the space."
MsTeo said they then argued but the man suddenly smashed his body against hers, causing her head to hit the window of the bus.

Ms Teo's necklace was pulled off, leaving a visible red mark on her neck.
Her accessories and portable music player were strewn all over the floor. One of her contact lenses was also knocked out of her eye.
Ms Teo said: "I was shouting for someone to ask the bus driver to call the police, but no one did."
Two passengers finally tried to intervene.
An NSman, Mr Benjamin Tan, and another man shouted at the bus driver, asking him to stop the bus.

Mr Tan, 22, told The New Paper: "The bus driver stopped the bus, went upstairs and shouted at the man to stop beating Ms Teo. But after that, he went down and continued driving." LOL--tiger without teeth
He added that although he knew there was a fight, he couldn't help because he couldn't get to the upper deck. There were about 10 people who had blocked the stairs to steal a view of the drama.
Mr Tan decided to call the police.
Meanwhile, Ms Teo claimed her alleged attacker had forced her wrists together, grabbed her by the neck and pulled her to the back of the bus.
Ms Teo said: "He was holding my head down, so I could not see much. I saw his wrist and I bit it as hard as I could and refused to let go."
All this time, the other passengers on the upper deck remained in their seats and watched.
One passenger eventually asked the man to stop.
But he didn't try to touch the attacker, Ms Teo said.
She added: "I had to fight for my life because no one else was helping me, but this guy was just relentless.
"I bit him so hard I actually tasted blood, and I could see that he was in pain."
She said that several minutes later, the passenger on the upper deck intervened again, saying, "If you don't let go, she won't let go."
The man then released Ms Teo and she said that the passenger guided her to another seat up front, while the alleged attacker returned to the same seat.
The whole episode lasted about 30 minutes.
Ms Teo said at this point, most of the passengers on the upper deck quickly got off at the next bus stop.
After collecting her belongings, Ms Teo made her way to the lower deck, where she saw the passenger who had intervened and Mr Tan telling the driver to make sure the attacker did not get off the bus.
Mr Tan claimed the bus driver told him to call the police himself. LOL PAP trained bus drivers act blur.
The attacker then came down, and asked the driver to drive to Singapore General Hospital, saying that he needed treatment. LOL Want a free ride to the hospital somemore.
When the driver refused, he alighted, followed by Ms Teo and Mr Tan.
Later, Ms Teo filed a police report about the incident.
Police confirmed that a report was lodged and the matter is under investigation. LOL Singapore police one shout and they pee in their pants.
Ms Teo's sister, Ms Irene Teo, 30, a manager, said more should have been done to protect her sister.
She said: "Although physical injuries can heal, being attacked so relentlessly for so long by a guy is very traumatic. People here have to be more civic-minded, and not just stand by and watch."
