Java is worth 2 cents per line of code.

C is worth 5 cents.

Learn as much as you can.

Mobile apps programmers make top dollars!

adobe shockwave isn't supported on iphone or android phones anymore unless used on apps for android.

This what I've observed. In the Uni they teach you the fundamentals of programming. Once you understand the data structures you can apply them to all languages whether it is Cobol, lisp, Fortran, Pascal, C,.....

I have taken IT diploma courses in Spore & I can tell you that it is very superficial & they don't train people to be programmers.

Schools here only program people to be yes-men and yes-women.

Depends. If you are going to work on software that controls hardware directly, C is the language to go. It is a small language and almost like assembly language.

If you are going to work on software at a conceptual level, Java is not bad. So is C# or even Visual Basic.

C++ is basically a badly mutated monster. Not everyone can tame it.

so it i write 100 lines of code i only get 2 dollars....thats pretty shit.....no wonder its a industry dominated by cheap bett fast ah nehs.

why do you want to interact with machine all day long when you can talk to woman anywhere?

i thought about it, in my remaining years, i hope to acheive something and i thought of going back to programming. one of my excelled project in school was motorola 68HC11 assembly language. C...i got tired cos' of the syntax..., i have done perl for cgi, for web. i want to get back to programming books to acquire a soft skill incase one day i cannot walk and need a niche skill to survive. i thought programming is more practical than investing in shares and other financial instruments.

genuine advice appreciated, other nonsensical no experience advice, please dun make me tickle myself...:p

Programming need a young fast mind. The older folks will find the constant change in language technology very tough.

How many programmers are giving up Objective C for Swift?

I am a trained IBM RPG II programmer, who want my skills?

Don't bother about traditional programming languages. Learn to write smartphone Apps. You can strike the motherload.

Good plan. Go to freelancer.co.uk. Go to the section on website, It & software. You will get an idea of the type of work that is in demand and then train up on the programming skills that you need.

Depends where in the workd you want to work. SG looks dynamic but is pretty much behind the times at corporate level. Still nourishing dinosaurs.

which skill will make u rich?investing or programming?of course investing, just dont do active trading.
dont bother picking up so many skills if ur goal is to make money, they will lead to nowhere once u realise theres no money to be made.

You are so wrong. Let money work for you then you can really retire. When you are old, you become unemployable. You will also feel lazy to work.
