SINGAPORE: A drug syndicate leader, a drug courier and an associate were arrested in an operation on July 23.

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized two Singapore-registered cars, more than S$31,000 in cash, approximately 1.7 kg of heroin, 0.4 gm of methamphetamine or 'Ice', 3 'Erimin-5' tablets and 1 Subutex tablet with a total street value of around S$260,000 during the operation.

Officers had mounted the operation after receiving information that a suspected drug syndicate leader had received a consignment of heroin from overseas.

At 4:20pm on July 23, they arrested the 36-year-old drug courier in the vicinity of a multi-storey car park in the Orchard area. He had heroin weighing approximately 1.37 kg with him.

Simultaneously, at about 4:25pm, officers arrested the 49-year-old drug syndicate leader and his 36-year-old girlfriend at the same car park. One packet of heroin weighing 3.58 gm and slightly over S$10,000 cash were seized from their car.

Later at 5:20pm, a total of 18 packets and 1 straw of heroin weighing approximately 362 gm, 0.4 gm of 'Ice', 1 Subutex tablet, 3 'Erimin-5' tablets and cash of more than S$20,000 were recovered from the syndicate leader's hideout at a condominium.

The two men are unemployed. All three suspects' urine tested positive for drugs and they will be investigated for the offence of trafficking in controlled drugs. If convicted, they face the death penalty.

this may just be a tip-off from the syndicate.
for this much that are lost, much more value of drugs will continue to be available on the streets.
