SINGAPORE : Officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau have seized drugs with a street value of more than S$215,000.

Heroin weighing some 1.4 kilogrammes and 200 Erimin 5 tablets were seized.

They were seized from a 23-year-old man who tried to smuggle the drugs in via the Woodlands Checkpoint at about 11pm on Wednesday.

The man was arrested after authorities received a tip-off that a man would be bringing in a drug consignment from his supplier based in a neighbouring country.

If convicted, the suspect may face the death penalty. - CNA/ms

hard drugs like Heroin carries the death sentence.

but it does seem like the monetary value of these drugs has gone down? i recall it was alot alot higher last time?

$215K divided by 1.4kg, that works out to around $0.153 per gram. o did i mis-calculated? or they are just not the purer kind here? (recall the case whereby a person escape the death sentence when the amount he/she was carrying was 14.99 gram after making pure.)

The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction reports that the retail price of brown heroin varies from €14.5 per gram in Turkey to €110 per gram in Sweden, with most European countries reporting typical prices of €35-40 per gram. The price of white heroin is reported only by a few European countries and ranged between €27 and €110 per gram.[32]

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime claims in its 2008 World Drug Report that typical US retail prices are US$172 per gram.[33]

the value of Heroin in this aspect has dropped. or is it just taking it too simple?

You can put it that way… or others New Product like Ice… mixed drugs give more "Kick" (more brain damage) by the addicted.
