CNA Debate: Opposition vs PAP

Watching the Debate of opposition vs PAP. It now makes more sense that PAP has 2 rep coz it's basically 4 vs 2.

Initial impression: The Mat and Lina Chiam cannot make it. The mat obviously is not prepared to speak every time it's his turn. Lina Chiam another one, at one point he CNA lady had to urge her to speak up more on her own party's policies. The SDP and WP guy are holding off pretty well. Particularly impressed by WP rep. The 2 PAP rep doing a pretty decent job. countering them. They should kick out the Mat and Lina Chiam. Wasting time for the opposition

If one talks about the SDP culture (sniping way at the PAP), then it should be benchmarked against the PAP culture which is even more unforgiving, vindictive and spiteful!

To be fair, PAP don't do that to any opposition in public unless the opposition provoke them first or there's a law breached. I'm not siding with PAP, just an observation from whatever limited experience I have.

That PAP charbo obvious put forth a lot of very official wayang answers that she already prepared before hand. She already knew what questions the moderator is going to ask her. However all her answers pertaining to the question of "hiring s'poreans first" is all bull shit. Is it really that 80% of the work force in all firms are s'poreans and only 20% are FTs? Just take a good look at all the banks, call centers, the 3 telcos in s'pore and you will get the truth. Do you really see all those help given to the old age and retrench s'poreans getting integrated back to the workforce successfully? Is the policy does work, you won't see so many taxi drivers and old aunties and uncles clearing plates and rubbish at coffee shops and hawker centers.

SDP Vincent is right that all the bull shit about improving productivity for firms does not work at all. We have heard about "improving productivity" since the late 1970s and we are still doing that for that sake of reducing the reliance of FTs to grow our economy? Obviously this productivity policy is a flop.

SDA Malay guy is definitely right about S'pore running the entire country like a firm. All PAP policies are out to make $$$ out from s'poreans instead of helping them make $$$ to sustain a living and yet the two PAP chap avoided this true issue entirely.

don't forget when she tell u S'porean she include PR that's where she get the 80%. just have to give out more PRs then everybody is a s'porean

He joined the wrong party. If he joined another, better chance even if NSP.

If Vincent fights for SMC, I think he personally got a good chance to nail it.

I'm not sure if WP has got its "tagline" for coming GE right. WP is worried about PAP faltering, and WP sees its role only as a "PAP back-up". Is WP a PAP B Team ? Indirectly, WP acknowledges that until PAP falters the current government is good or the government is currently good. And Lina Chiam actually agrees.

Everyone in the opposition camp except Chee admits that they are unable to take over the government at this point in time. If WP, the biggest opposition party is unable to take over yet, no one is ready. Which is why there is a serious problem if the ruling party falls, since no one is ready to take over. The worst part is even a coalition between the opposition parties may not be good enough. Right now WP is building slowly building up their strength. Give them another couple of elections, they should be ready. Whether U choose to admit it or not, PAP is mostly doing a good job so far. It's one of the reason why the opposition has difficulty growing. If the PAP was REALLY doing as bad a job as most in here would have you believe. The masses would be jumping over to the opposition camp without them even trying to recruit

After watching her, I seriously think Chiam should stay back in PP. Goodwill votes will only get you so far. If Chiam isn't around, those votes may well go the other direction.

Which is why I said SDP should stop the nonsense of sniping PAP's reputation or electoral and judicial system in general. PAP usually only hit back really hard when you throw accusations at their 1)party members, 2)electoral system(as was the case of James Gomez), 3)the legal system. You stay clear of these 3, you don't run into any problem which is why you don't see pple Chiam, Low, Sylvia Lim and even Steve Chia who have been in Parliament getting into trouble.

Point to note. When Vincent started sniping at PAP during the debate, you can see Tharman laughing.

PAP is mostly doing a good job so far. It's one of the reason why the opposition has difficulty growing.

I do not disagree with what you said, but what sporeans should ask is
"good with respect to what?"

how do you know whether spore can perform better?

there are also some big mistakes which happened under pap.

Boring. All the parties want to become big government. I prefer Ron Paul type of government. Liberty to individual, freedom to all.

Who are you to judge which is the right or wrong party? A party is only as good as the people or leaders it attracts.

Dr Vincent Wijey is anytime better than LTK and Chiam combined. Or NSP.
