Clear Sign of Political Desperation

It's clear that LHL is in political desperation when he has to:

1. Exploit the death of LKY to gain sympathy votes at the coming GE
2. Engineer and time the resignation of a honest, diligent LTY to take the sting out of his bad policies

From now till next GE, Singaporeans must be discerning to see through more of such desperate moves. We can perhaps expect some desperate financial "incentives" to be announced at the National Day Rally on 23 Aug to try to win votes.

These are sure signs of a weak PM who cant win through good leadership but instead has to resort to win by sympathy votes.

It's sad to see the once mighty pap having to resort to gutter politics and voter sympathies to try to win against ordinary Singapore candidates like LLL, Daniel Goh, Terence Tan, Chua Ser Lin, Lina Chiam, Ben Pwee, etc.

In the days under LKY, his presence wld be enough to win the contest for the pap. Nowadays, LHL has to resort to dog and pony show and wayangs to win votes. Does LHL know that no amount of show can replace strong and good leadership? Perhaps he should go back to basics and get a lesson from his father.

LKY was an asset to the pap. LHL is a huge liability and so he has so obviously resorted to desperate measures to try to win votes.

Singaporeans are wise and can see through a lousy leader. We vote for the future not on past glories. We vote not just with our hearts. We have a head too.

So LHL shd quit all the wayangs and fight the GE on good leadership and good policies.

These are desperate times for LHL and the PAP. It is inconceivable that the once mighty PAP has fallen to this level within 10 years of LHL's leadership. What LKY built in 40years are destroyed by his "chosen" son in 10years. How ironic!

So, to show his leadership, LHL shd be PM cum Minister of Transport.

But truly, the fault lies not with the Minister of Transport nor his staff. I bet LHL will also fail badly if he is Minister of Transport

The problem with our transportation is with basic policies. A national transportation system shd not be privatised and having to pay dividends to its stalkholders. A national transportation system shd be run by the govt on cost recovery basis and not based on private equity.

The problem with the pap is that every area must make money. Transport must make money, Healthcost must make money. That's why we have such high fares and health costs. These costs are passed down to Singaporeans and increase costs of living. These policies are unsustainable.

Until LHL wises up and do the right things, Singapore is in deep trouble with such bad policies

It's right to respect our good leaders. Indeed it is right to honour and respect LKY.

But which other country did like what the pap did in LKY's death? I shudder with shame at the way pap overplays it even at the NDP parade. Not even N Korea nor China did what the pap did.

Time for Singapore to move on without the shadow of LKY. He has done his part. We don't get stuck in a dead man's glory.

Let Singapore find a new bearing and direction forward and move to higher glory without LKY.

That's what the pap thinks too. But that concept is too simplistic. MOT must put on its thinking cap.

There are many variations of running a national transportation system. It can be done and I am certain that one day it will happen.

The present system is one of the worst that can be conceived. It privatises profits to the shareholders like TH holdings but socialises costs to SG tax payers and commuters.

How can SMRT and SBS takes profits through fares but ask Singaporeans to fund $1.1B of bus purchases? If SMRT and SBS want to run like a public company, then they shd take commercial loans to pay for bus purchases and not ask tax payers to pay for them
