The latest Three Kingdom from PRC which I am watching now. The theme song slowly catches up with you. It is very very macho.

Ramseth : Hey, there's a Chinese Three Kingdoms Japanese manga set.

JGF : Yah, nothing surprising, it's available all over Japan. We love that. The story is taught in Japanese schools too, Sangokushi （三国志）。

Ramseth : Wow, thought Japanese only copy Chinese characters and know nothing about Chinese history.

JGF : Don't know your head! Tonight your place or my place? :D
 
I have watched quite a few versions of 3 Kingdoms. The first one was in 1976, when I was still a kid. That was the HK version. The songs was in my mind since then. I could still remember some of the lyrics. Good to hear the song again after more than 30 years.

To me, the HK Cantonese version is the best.

Har? The HongKie version where Zhuge Liang's life was shortened cos he used fire to burn Cao Cao's troops?

When it comes to historical drama, just watch PRC productions. The rest all can throw away. I prefer proper facts with real actors.

Currently I am watching the latest version 95 episodes and I am at 46. Think the 1994 version is better in terms of facts but this version has better actors.

This current version is updated to make Cao Cao less evil and more cunning. I thought the actor playing Cao Cao has an interesting take on Cao Cao making him mischievous and good at lying. Also like the Liu Bei character who is always trying to be serious and upright but got damn pissed when he lost Xu Province. Great acting!

Used to be available widely in Singapore bookstores and CD stores when it a new release, but nowadays a bit hard to find. It was a set of 9 discs. The anime art was superb as usual of Japanese standard. The storyline was mostly faithful to history except for a small part of made-up story when Guan Yu had a foster daughter who could fight too, fell in love with Ma Su, cried and left the army when Zhuge Liang executed Ma Su. :eek:

I guess Japanese couldn't resist embellishing it with a little love sob story.

they outsource the drawing to PRC, and the result are as shitty as those PRC cartoon. Forget it. Better to watch the latest 3 kingdom PRC tv series.

None of them are facts, because the tv series was made from the noval romance of 3 kingdom. It is a novel not the real thing.

The latest PRC series wasn't bad until they got helicopter providing air cover for the army! :confused:

Cpt. Goh fell off his chair and struggled with rolling on his fat tummy laughing when Alamaking (or somebody) posted that Youtube footage. Helicopter invented in Han Dynasty China, more than 2,000 years ago! :eek:
