Fare refund cumbersome and inconvenient

IN TUESDAY'S report ('Refund process 'not onerous'), Transport Minister Raymond Lim suggested that obtaining fare refunds was convenient.

The picture on the ground may not be quite the same. That TransitLink requires five working days to investigate and process refunds. This is not convenient, especially when commuters are charged immediately for under-paying. Furthermore, why must commuters bear the inconvenience of obtaining the refund when the problem originates with the transport operator?

TransitLink should have a computer program in place to calculate the overcharged amount auto- matically and refund this amount to the ez-link card.

This program can run every night and commuters will be able to get their refunds the next time they travel with the same ez-link card.

Imagine taking a bus to the bus depot or MRT station to claim back $1 of overcharged fare. To and fro will cost you at least $1.50cts. So in the end, you lose more.

Why bother?

This is peasant thinking to waste so much time getting back a few cents

Use that time to make more money from short selling or currency trades

Asking a monopoly to be fair to peasants? Hahaha fucking joke.

TransitLink wants a longer time to investigate possibility of cheating??

Precisely! Why bother about the few cents. I bet this sinkie vote PAP anyway when they get their progress package.

Sinkies will go to the trouble of spending 1.80 to collect 2.40 back

No lah. They can sent u by cheque. Or we can get the refund at any transitlink counter during business hrs.

Yes, it takes them 5 days to investigate whether you are trying to cheat. But if you underpay, they fine you $20 on the spot.
