Malaysia's Mahathir removed RM1000 and RM500 from circulation at the height of the Financial Crisis.

Why in Singapore do we still have $1000 and $10000 in circulation?

A cleaner and security guard paid peanuts can never even smell or touch such currency.

Probably, the former maybe within reach of some BUT CERTAINLY not the latter.

Why the need for such "heavy" currencies to be in circulation, especially when so many corrupt politicians from China, India, Africa and ASEAN countries are involved in, and support people who launder money.

I have yet to see a $10000 note.

Maybe someone can post a picture of it.

Some 10 over years ago, i bought 3 donation draw ticket which uses the $10,000 bill as their grand price. ( But with the word..reproduction printed on it.)

The draw ticket cost $10 each..As the draw ticket resemble the actual $10,000 bill,it is really very life-like, i kept the
ticket..

Today, to my surprise..collectors are willing to buy it at $40 per pcs.

The coin and notes collectors are selling them at $70 per pc.

U still can get them..

You guys are really froggies in the well. I use the 10k note everyday in Vietnam.

Actually very useful these big notes. Can carry large amount of money when space is constraint. In Malaysia, just a few thousand, the wallet bulge like crazy. But many woman stare thinking my one very big.

Totally agree with you ! Money laundering is very important for welcoming investor to your country . A totally clean country cannot be rich .

I've used $10,000 & $5,000 notes to do interbank transfers when I had a different bank accounts with different banks in Spore. Very convenient to have such large notes

Compared to carrying SIN$10,000 in RM$50 notes. Had to use a plastic bag to carry all the notes:)

10k notes are logged in SG. Never seen a 5k. I personally prefer 1k notes. Remain anonymous :)

Someone told me that the big notes: 500, 1000, 5000 & 10000 notes are not that common & if anyone reports that these notes are stolen. Anyone holding these notes will lose out as they will not be able to use any stolen notes. The authorities will confiscated any stolen notes. That's why I will only accept these large notes from a bank and use them at a bank. It is not a good idea for everyday use:)

For everyday use I will only use smaller denominations i.e. 100 & smaller I don't want to be penalized for having stolen currency

Even cash deposit machines accepts them.
