Someone mentioned that Gen McArthur was a lousy general. He did not do a good job in The Philippines and lost the whole stretch of islands to the bloody Japs. The general who fought the Japs in the south of China with his famed Flying Tigers lost the honour of liberating China officially. I think McArthur had the honour of receiving the Japs' surrender instead, poor Chennault !

MacArthur would have contained the CCP and might have given more needed support to the KMT troops. However, as Marshall was the one in charge, hence the KMT got its funds and support cut from the US and told "You are on your own now."

there was no money, public sentiments were against chiang due to bad publicity to chiang and it not an angmo conflict. what happened in 1947 happen again in 1972 when US abandoned the south vietnam govt.

btw, the North Korea attacked the south in 1950 as due to non commitment by the US govt toward the south and refused to provide heavy weapons to the south and restrict the numbers of troops the south can recruit.

..Unfortunately, this included the period of rapid scientific development and discovery in the western lands and China excluded herself from these.

One of these is the art of glass making & specifically glass beakers & test tubes where scientific experiments were carried out & from these, the West advanced in it's knowledge. China was apparently too preoccupied with keeping their secrets of porcelain making in Jingdezhen a secret & they ran a "closed door" policy when it came to it's manufacture. But the secrets of Chinese porcelain eventually got out to the West but by then, the West had moved on.

Chairman Chiang Kai Shek wanted General Wedemeyer to be the Chinese representative to receive the Japanese surrender. Wedemeyer believed that it was not appropriate for a foreigner to represent China in this historic occasion. The Chinese are well known for their intelligence and willing to work hard. What is lacking is that the Chinese people are not creative and innovative enough. As a result China is not on the cutting edge of trends or developments that are changing the world whereas America is.

In footballing terms, there are alot of hard working intelligent players like Steve Gerrard in China but there is no Messi with his magic...

Most of the chinks started businesses when they arrived in the West simply because no sane white man wanted to employ those obnoxious characters.

They ended up starting launderettes and takeaways in order to eke out a living. If that's the definition of being "business minded", then it brings new meaning to the term.

A few made it big but so have migrants from other ethnic groups. In fact, the overseas Indians in the West have proven themselves to be far more successful.

That might be true but then again the majority of the population is like that. Take whites as a general group if you want to take them as an individual group like french, italian etc the percentage of them being inventors and etc drop much lower so let's just take all whites as a group. Even among whites as a whole only a small percentage of them are inventors and innovators.

Anyway the chinese as a whole aren't doing too badly. Certainly much better than malays, indians, arabs and so on. The only comparable group would be like the japanese or whites.

The worst thing is that non japs and whites would suddenly act like whites to put down the chinese. I am sure you have heard of this before. Some indian fella would say hey but china is poorer than the USA. Oh yeah but are you american? Are you white? Nope so why is he acting and speaking like he's a white or american?


It's like some average or poor man telling off a multi-millionaire that has 100 million in the bank. Oh yeah you're nothing. Warren buffet or bill gates has much more than you ignoring the fact that he isn't those 2 individuals and is just a poor bloke telling off the multi millionaire. In short wearing the butt skin of warren buffet on his face to talk down to the multi millionaire. That's what happens when some m&ds or kelings do when they want to put down china. Also china isn't like a mult-millionaire while the US is a billionaire. China is like a billionaire next to the US if you want to make that kind of comparison.

Also what is wrong with starting a takeaway or a laundry shop? Those are businesses aren't they? The majority of indians are either convience store owners or taxi drivers and that is more business minded?
