China is the Engine of Growth?

According to Woody, this is his words of Wisdom.

Today news, China's growth is slowing down, first time in 5 years they are not getting a double digit growth.

What Woody fail to see is:

1.)China, Like Singapore, is not a transparent country, never trust the numbers published by the central gov. The country is so big, the right hand don't know what the left hand is doing. They don't even know they are in trouble till many months later when the real numbers come in, then there's other "Consideration" on what to publish to the world.

2.)Their international standing is on a decline, from toxic toys to toxic milk, they have no idea what this erosion of confidence will cost them yet.

3.)Due to Strengthening Yuan and creeping labor cost, it is not longer the best place to invest in for manufacturing.

4.)Time bomb like Earthquake, Pandemic, Unrest, widening gap on wealth, corruption, are all problems that cannot be resolve in the near future or cannot be resolve at all.

I hope Woody don't talk for the sake of talking.

China is an engine of growth, albeit one with many challenges.
In spite of all the negative news coverage China has received, China is not a country that the world can substitute for cheaply manufactured products.
India is another country the world cannot afford to ignore either.

India took a differnt economic model, which do not really attract as much hot money as China but end of the day, I think India will be better off.

China is no longer "Cheap"

China have a huge consumer maket, it is good if you are selling to them, they in turn export mainly to US.

So if US in meltdown and import less, China plunge, So will all that sell to China.

Their property will be the next to plunge but contral gov will prop it up with the huge reserve they have. They will not die but they will not be the engine of growth like US.

In bad times, they will be a fierce competitor to local / Asean business in all level, what ever you can do, they can do it cheaper.

What is the use? They only can produce quantity, they can't produce quality
